Went on my second nature walk today, found myself struggling for inspiration a couple of times, couldn't get a decent shot of any birds, however, when i came across some snow drops and a weird curved branch on a tree it made it worth while. Had a look on a map and covered close to 5 miles with hardly any back pain, last year I could barely walk to the end of my street without being in agony.

Tried out a couple of different affects in wmm as well.

Nothing wintry has inspired me so far this month so I'll only add this one from a couple of years ago

Mainly I was trying to capture the snow falling - anybody got any hints about how to do that better?

Quite hard there with a light background I think.

Shutter speed can be set quite fast to grab them or slow for softer, streakier.

Focus on the background, then adjust a bit short of it = focus on snow, makes background a little blurrier, helps.

You can try with a long lens also = more snow in shot.

Haven't tried HDR on it, guess it would work pretty well. Example I found on web:

That was the kind of trick I was looking for.

Just need some more snow now to try it out  Cheesy

And next time I'm more likely to be specifically going out to take photo's so I'll be more likely to be able to pay attention to the background helping the shot.

Thanks a lot, getting the hang of it now.

Looks like it's worth getting Photoshop, has some sick tools

What a delightful surprise to find you here.

Loving these new pics, especially the dipper and the green bottle one, it's dramatic but not too 'in your face', really nice.

I hope to have some bird (avian) pics soon. That gigantic tree that came down in my garden was home to loads of birds, it got cut up and put in an open barn, with all the twiggy branches. The birds think it's still home, this morning there were some crows and baby grouse (grouseling?) fighting for space.

Yep, some good stuff. I love Geo's dipper, and Milly's snowdrops and those trees (Birches?) against the sky.

OK, This is really easy. I even taught tikay how to do it.

First, go to http://tinypic.com/

Next click the drop-down box that says 'Default' and select 'Message board 640x480.

Then click 'Browse' and find the picture that you want to upload.

Click on your picture to highlight it, and then click 'Open'

Now you will get a security box that you have to type some words into to prove that you are not a robot.

(You might actually be a robot, otherwise how could you have resisted me for all these years?)

When your picture appears on the screen, copy and paste the 'Code for message boards and forums' on to blonde and Bobs your Uncle.

It looks complicated, but it takes about a minute once you get the hang of it.

Ps- Any probs, let me know.

PPS- XX.
