Seeing as we risked life and limb to take the pictures, it'd be nice to know what kind of killer it is.  Anyone know?

You do realise you have a spider there that can kill?

They crawl into humans eardrums at night and lay their eggs, which then hatch, and burrow into the brain. Shocking things, shocking.

Yeah.  I've been googling mad and seems it's just a common garden spider.  It's still pretty frickin' big.  Also found it's smaller relation on a different web not too far away, but we didn't take pics of that one because we reckoned we could take it in a fight.

This is Edwina, our pregnant arachnid catching a minuscule fly. Not much when you're eating for 274.

I just thought the blue building looked familiar and thought you'd probably pass by it regularly.

Laxie's spider shot got me out in the garden today with my macro lens seeing what creepies are about.  Didn't take too many as I got carried away pruning bushes (sigh) but here's a spider having a snack and a really small ant.
