This is a very tight crop from a local view Rex...

Surely that's got to be Ratcliffe-on-Trent power station?

Thought that too

You'd both be wrong. As it's Ratcliffe-on-Soar Smiley

Guys the BBC has a photo comp every week. They have a deadline of 25th Sept on the subject of 'breakfast'.

Lets go for it and see if one of us can get our pic chosen as one of the top 10 for the week.

Who's in?

Fremont Street, Vegas? Might be very wrong, but the canopy and pillars look familiar.

I took this as the sun was coming up yesterday morning. It was a great view, it's a pity the photo doesn't do it justice.

Where is it?

Easy, I know that river unmistakably well, I could recognize it with my eyes closed.

It is 100% the Trent. Or the Severn.

So it must be Bristol. Or Nottingham.

Go on, tell me I'm right.

Can't be the Trent at Nottingham because this bit of the river is tidal going by the bank on the right hand side. The Trent stops being tidal just north of Newark at the weir at a place called Collingham or Cromwell depending on which side you live. This is the best match fishing spot on the whole of the Trent and wins a lot of the matches when it is used ( including matches with 1200 anglers competing ).

It is also the scene of many  a tragic accident and my dad was involved in the investigation into this one. Rip
