Help please

Granddaughter arrived and Mrs typhoon keeps insisting we buy a camera

Last camera i purchased was with winnings from Alex Higgins winning the world championship

I know absolutely nothing about cameras and don't want to wander into camera shop and get ripped off with assistant trying to flog me  what makes him or her the most commission

Does anybody have ideas on what i can buy which is simple to operate and get films developed?

Thank you

Just buy any modern compact with a 'point & shoot' setting.

Something like this from Argos.

Phewww Tom

Thanks but reading full description it seems a tad technical for me

Just set it on fully automatic mode. (Usually the little green camera icon on the settings wheel) and you'll be fine. Even tikay can do it.

If you're still not sure, go into a camera shop and tell them you want to buy a camera as a Chrimbo present for your granny.

For my granny lolz.... one look at me and they will snap call i am taking the piss

Took this of the office this morning (only on camera phone) but thought it was quite nicely framed. It really is an idyllic setting this time of the year.

Lovely scene Nakor, the mist is awesome.  Almost reminds me of a medieval scene with those building silhouettes in the background.

I'm trying my hand at mushrooms!  Went out in the woods behind me yesterday and took a few

I think these are Mycena Adscendens, aka Frosty Bonnets.  Tiny tiny mushrooms, no more than 1cm tall, these were probably 5mmish

Couple of other type on my Flickr stream but these two were the best.

Nice mushrooms Graham, my girlfriend went on a fungal forage as part of her degree a couple of weeks ago. Not nearly as interesting from a photography point of view - but she does say that as the gills are white it's probably poisonous Smiley

Thanks Smiley

I'll be OK, I don't like mushrooms anyway.  Will remember the tip though.

bump

Not much but probably the most complex animated gif I've attempted - sometimes takes a moment to get going, but I'm quite happy with the result Smiley

Only just seen this, looks impressive to me. Not sure if others are getting the animation. Did you take the shots yourself?

Yes, I had the idea before we left so I just made sure to regularly take a photo.

Whenever I load it, it takes a moment to start going as such - so I knew there was a risk that no one would actually see it. Glad it worked at least once Smiley

I went to Brands Hatch for the British Superbikes weekend before last.  Found out that you really do need a long lens, my 200mm isn't enough, and you have to grab your spot on race day and not move.  You can guard it with one of those camping seats but there's not many places to take photos without the dreaded fence getting in the shot!  1600 photos narrowed down to 25, narrowed down again to...well three at the moment plus another I'm working on.  I may have a couple of others but I'm not sure about those yet.

Saving for that 100-400mm lens!
