Swap gaffers, obv
So presumably that means that if QPR, an unfashionable team from their nation's capital city, and having similar financial clout as Atletico swapped managers with them, the aforementioned QPR would currently be winning the league and challenging in the CL.
I don't see what's stopping them.

Athletico are a bit of a freak in regards to the players that they have had come through the team and yet they still remain competitive.
Having said that, they are utterly, utterly reckless financially. I think they are £500m in debt? Open to correction on that.
But they are a Portsmouth/Leeds waiting to happen.

Even more similar to QPR then.

Here's an article from the start of the season on Athletico

silly comparisons the EPL is so much more deeper than the Spanish and German leagues. You can have off days in those leagues and still coast alone. That doesn't happen in the EPL. This was proven by the recent club rich list where even Stoke were in the top 30 of richest clubs in the world.

I didn't know this.
I did know that teams in La Liga negioate their own tv deals so Real and Barca receive 3 times more income than Atletico.

and about 20 times more than the basement clubs. Hence why the bottom half of la liga is so shit and the top 3 have the week off every other week. Real and Barca are surely slowly killing the goose that lays the golden egg in their domestic league?

Okay but you can't say 'Arsenal should be doing better coz look at how well Athletico are doing.' Athletico make up all the money shortfall by just borrowing it!
They ain't a good example to football.

Did QPR win their league last year?
Athletico might be unfashionable, but they're also very successful.

Athletico only had a good year last year. We've won the PL before and been in a CL final. We've also consistently been in the Champions League whereas Athletico have only been in it twice.
If Athletico do it this year then I'll agree with you.

Oh gawd not you as well.
I was obviously(I mistakenly thought)aiming that comment at a well-known blonde QPR/closet spuds fan who instigated this daft discussion.

LOL.
Of the big clubs I dislike Arsenal the least - especially since Graham and Adams left.
I despise Tottenham with a passion.
