Liverpool fans - Parking

Going to Anfield on Sunday, never been before wondering where is best to park? Thinking maybe best to park in the town centre and get cabs there and back? Any other suggestions? Ideal would be to avoid traffic and also obviously to come back to my car still being there is a massive plus (Liverpool eh?)

Loads of places to park. Your best bet might be heading towards Goodison and parking there (costs about a tenner and it's all marshalled) at a school or similar. Then it's a short walk across Stanley Park to Anfield.
You're obviously not staying there overnight, as the other option is to park at the hotel and then taxi in to Anfield.

I'm staying at Marriott, Queen Square. There's a car park there.
I was planning on getting a taxi to Anfield from there.
Is Mr Parker going too?
PS. Bring Buffalo money!

How To Get There By Car And Where To Park
Follow the M62 until you reach the end of the motorway (beware of a 50mph speed camera about a 1/4 of a mile from the end of the motorway). Then follow the A5058 towards Liverpool. After three miles turn left at the traffic lights into Utting Avenue (there is a McDonalds on the corner of this junction). Proceed for one mile and then turn right at the Arkles pub for the ground. If you arrive early (around 1pm) then there is street parking to be found. However recently a residents only parking scheme has been introduced in some streets around the ground, so check any signs first. Otherwise it as an idea to park in the streets around Goodison and walk across Stanley Park to Anfield, or you can
park in a secure parking area at Goodison itself which costs £10.

Hence my slight concern and need for somewhere safe to park

A group of us went to see and England game at Anfield once (Finland) and one of my mates was driving up in his three-week old new car, parking on the street near the ground.
He sure didn't tire of our 'jokes' - 'I'm sure it'll look even better when it's on bricks', 'I thought your car had hubcaps' etc.

I parked at Goodison when we beat them in the FA Cup in 2008 (brag). Didn't have any problems and it's as secure as car parking gets in Liverpool, IMO.
Shortish walk across the park to Anfiield.
