He cannot steal the money.

dumping to another poker account isn't too tough.

It'd never get picked up as suspicious activity on my account as well.

if he does it in a shrewd way you still won't get it back.

wow give the kid a break LeKnave.

Might be all he needs.

I hope Solaris sees the love from everyone who's investing and decides to go ahead with this.

Pretty good chance to prove himself as the sound fella we all hope he is.

Unless he is completly addicted and a lost hope he will see this as a chance to make some wonga without being tempted to donk it all off. There will be no option to do this and maybe given him to focus to be disciplined in his life...always for 2nd chances..gl to him

I spoke to a friend very earlier on msn as I saw a few mentions of this in other threads.

Please correct me if these are inaccurate cliffs or anything needs to be added.

(I also don't really read the sports boards on here as I don't sports bet).

What I understand of the situation...

- Solaris asks for staking (admits on his blonde profile he's a bit of a degen)

- No one knows Solaris

- Turns out he's a lot of a degen when people come on and mention bad things he's done in the past

- Several Blondes want to see the good side and still stake him.

If my understanding of that is correct, I think it's a terrible idea to stake the guy.

Someone (Dubai?) said that they'd rather stake a degen than a nit. I respectfully disagree.

There's 2 types of degen. Type 1 is like me and Dubai. Profitable (with varying skill levels obv). Nice guys irl and sometimes borrow money. Always pay it back and have a good reputation within the community.

Then there's your type 2. I don't want to name names because that'll cause the mods unnecessary problems but we've had a few here on blonde. Likeable? Usually very. Skills? Usually very good too. In times of desperation or things going tits up, won't think twice about bending you over. 100%.

No-one knows Solaris. He's jobless atm and people he knows have come on here for the good of others not getting potentially grimmed. What they said in their first post made me think everyone is batshit crazy to still wanna stake the guy. Now I love the blonde spirit in wanting to defend 'our own' and the attitude to say 'Let's give him a shot' is equally admirable too.

However, what these people who are close to Solaris said, puts no doubt in my mind that this person should not be staked. For the good of blonde and the good of himself.

To give you the history, we have been ‘mates’ with Ryan (Solaris) for the best part of 7 years now. In the last few years he’s developed a pretty serious gambling addiction. He seems to take a lot of pleasure from thieving and losing money from anyone who is stupid enough to lend it to him. If you don’t lend it to him then he will happily rob you blind. He’s borrowed 600 off us two on holiday and didn’t pay it back because he gambled it. He has stolen from his family quite significantly, has endless debts with the likes of Wonga.com and not last week after losing his job stole a 100 from our housemate. We kicked him out our house and that brings us up to now. You have literally deposited money to someone who has lost everything on more than one occasion and is a gold member at GA

His parents are in charge of his account and have seen the money go in. I suggest you make arrangements to recoup your cash asap and under no circumstances deposit money into this degenerates account. If he's so good at gambling he wouldn’t need your money.

Solaris needs to work on paying back his debts and rebuilding relationships with the people he's hurt, rather than be encouraged by blondes to continue gambling.

I personally think it's inappropriate on several levels but that's just my 2 cents and I know it won't make any difference.

I also realise that Solaris must feel really embarrassed by this. I hope it doesn't embarrass him into shying away from the forum. I do hope it makes him tell us about his story etc and to help him through what is possibly a bad problem.

Noooo, Solaris didn't ask for staking.

And he had a tennis thread from before all this which showed amazing results and thoughtful insights.

Right ok.

Blatch had some thoughtful insights too and remember what happened there?

Question - how did the staking thread come about if Solaris didn't ask for staking?

Fair point about Blatchly.

I believe Keith "The Camel" Hawkins suggested it.

I believe it's Keef Orkins you're referring to.

Someone also just told me that Solaris didn't even want to handle the money which is either admirable or simply because his gambling problem means he can't.

When things have gotten that far with gambling, you really need to put things in check. Some people really struggle to do that. Others simply can't.

Solaris probably fits within one of these two categories and as such shouldn't be incentivised with this staking idea to devote his time to gambling when it sounds like he should be doing anything but.

(If I'm way off Solaris I do apologise but please appreciate I don't know you and this is just how it looks to someone on the outside).

The kid is currently doing 1 of 2 things!

1. Sat at home salivating and have the occasional wank that blondes are so easy to grim it's not even real! From 1k to 4k in 24 hours and he outed himself!

2. Trying to convince his mum and dad that this thread is a good idea and begging them to let him prove himself as great at betting and capable of good brm and turning a profit!

Either way epicness awaits!

As Dubai wisely said. Over 50% of Blondepoker members will have a gambling problem to some extent or another.

Fair points, well made, by Mr Greek Bloke.

As has been pointed out though, the chap never once asked to be staked - that was Camel's idea, & we all quickly piled in behind.

As far as I am aware, he repaid everyone, in full, within 24 hours, even though he had been "outed" & his reputation, such as it may be, ripped to shreds. He had every chance to do the runner then.

Cos, however, is doing the moral bit here, & I think his points are not without merit.  Please stop being sensible, Cos, I've moved across to join the dark side now - I'm a proper degen, got my own "tips" thread & everything.

Nits are so yesterday.
