The last raffle I heard of done like this by a poker player was so conveniently won by his wife.

If that is your next idea, I hope blondepoker bans that from being facilitated through this site.

(I have no idea whether you are reputable are not fwiw and that's not an attack on you but as a site who has suffered highly from scammers this idea seems ridiculous if allowed).

What's your name? Where roughly do you live? What car do you drive? Can we have a pic of the plate on the car?

You knew about that? Thought it was before your time.

You told me about it!!!!!

I did?

Lol, incred self-bok!

I posted on blonde some time ago very flatteringly about said person and then a few old stories ame out of the woodwork about them. You called me to explain it all. Ralph will probably remember. Was over a year ago now, maybe 2.

Hang on I dont even get what HOIIDEM has to do with poker?

Or for that matter HOLL DEM, unless you have a missus called Holly, who you call Holl and then I still dont get the dem?

These plates are pathetic and make me cry a little every time I see one.

I followed BA11AGH along the A66 the other day...

It was on a Smart car

This is actually the first time I've heard of a personalised number plate that I thought was cool.

I'm assuming they didn't pay more than £50 for a plate that slightly remsembles BALLA, in a crap sort of way, and then because it's a crap number plate, they stuck it on a crap car.

Pretty funny and taking the piss out of people that would spend 10k for plates like HO11 DEM imo.

I mostly play in the North East and occasionally online.  I am not a big stakes player, and mostly play tournaments rather than cash games.
Like i said i treat poker as an enjoyable passtime, rather than thinking i can make a long term profit at it.  I know that there are those
who do very well from it, much better than myself, however i just enjoy the pychology and thought processses involved in the game
as much as the winning.

What are the cash games like?

Is there a soft 1/2 game going?

Has anyone called the police yet?

I saw a new BMW 5 series the other day with the plate DU11 FKA.
Made me smile anyway.

OK Guys

Fair point

The reasons why i wont give out personal information on an internet forum are the same reasons why some people
think this is a scam - So far all i have received from the MAJORITY of people on this thread is personal ABUSE
I WILL NOT subject myself to further abuse hence i will not give out further details of myself on an OPEN forum.
Should someone have come forward with what i thought may have been a GENUINE offer or expression of interest,
then i would have no problem in actually meeting up IN PERSON with all the necessary paperwork (whcih i have
allready posted a picture of on here) and also would have invited them to the hospice to see the great work that is going
on which will be further enhanced by the donation made.  ANY GENUINE purchasr would not have a problem with that as they
would then see first hand for themselves.

Im not going to waste my time with this forum anymore.

I understand that others in the past have damaged the future possibillities of such a thing in the future.
Its a sad world to think that all people are tagged with the same doubts.  At this moment in time i was merely
wanting to find out levels of interest whether or not it would be viable to open up a raffle to a wider audience
in order to raise a better sum for the hospice, but i will stick to the smaller scale venue, where i will not be
ridiculed for trying to raise some money for charity.

I find my experiences of this forum to be quite sad really, as i was always led to believe the online community
was usually quite helpful.

Sorry for wasting everyones time, if you feel like that, and thank you to the one ot maybe two people who actually
made a positive suggestion.  To those of you who took the initiative to deliver personal insults then please, grow up.

It is - online communities thrive on mutual help.

They're not so great with strangers who think we owe them a favour.

As has been said, Autocar's website is someplace else.

If you want to help a hospice which has been good to you or your family then that, of course, is great. But you weren't planning to help them, were you? You expected one of us to do it, whilst you had your costs covered and suffered no financial loss, whilst you still got the reflected glory of making a 'donation' (with someone else's money).

Well I'm sorry you feel that, as I invested 15 minutes of my time trying to explain why it all went a bit wrong, & how to rectify it.

I cannot imagine you will get a much different response on any Poker Forum.

You cannnot just blame the guys here, for the reasons I explained at length, you have not helped yourself, with due respect.

I dont think anyone owes me a favour.

AGAIN I will state that posting on here was given to me as a suggestion to gage interest.

I know you feel that i have treat this forum like Exchange and Mart, but the logic of
posting here because of its poker relevance surely must be appernt to the most idiotic of posters.

And yes by making a donation it does help the hospice and yes technically it does come from my pocket,
because at the end of the day i could have done what others have done in the past and bought a plate
cheaplly and try to flop it to make money myself - the WHOLE financial MARKET value of whatever i own belongs
EXCLUSIVELY to me - if someone can make a profit from it then they will - THATS THE WAY THE WORLD WORKS
YOU PAY PROFITS ON EVERYTHING YOU BUY - if i decide to use some of that money to make a donation then
technically the money still comes from my INITIATIVE to do something positive.  If the market dictates that the plate is only worth
what i paid for it then i would still donate 50% of whatever i sold it for to the hospice - but given that it is valued
at a particular price i am not going to just give it away for nothing - i would sooner look at other options to raise money as
an alternative idea.

Yes Tikay I take your points - surely you can take mine - i figure that if someone IS GENUINELY interested then surely meeting in
person and taking the time to even visit the hospice is a more desirable way of conducting the transaction rather than through
a forum.

Being ABUSED from the off does not sit pretty with me - but like i posted at the end of my last post i would like
to thank the couple of guys who did make positive contributions - yourself included.

They are good bunch on here.  The wealth of useful information I've gained from here over the past few years has been great.  As has been said, you can't just come on to a forum trying to flog stuff, poker related or not.

Maybe if someone on here knows you and can vouch for you then all of this would have stopped straight away.  FWIW, no one on here knows me so the last thing I'd do is try to sell something for a 4 figure sum, despite being a member for a few years and having a number of posts!

GL with this.

synetos.......

Here's an example of how the blondes usually help, if the OP is reasonable, & well put together......

the guy might be a scammer but i don't agree with the posts saying that he's "using" the forum or that online comunites are of mutual benefit and that he's not participating in that, if he thinks(and the buyer does too) that the price is fair then surely it's been of mutual benefit and he's done someone in the poker world(and on blonde) a favour

from what i can see it's not that he's come on trying to flog it that's got people's backs up it's the price, like i stated he might be a scammer therefore flame away but if he came on and said: "here you go chaps, have this for £100, first come first serve" then would that qualify as being of benefit for the forum if he turned out to be legit? it seems so to me.

if he's sitting in a pub and tells a pal he has a poker related number plate and wants to sell it, where could he sell something so specialised and his mate says try a poker forum, that would sound like a sensible idea to me, the perfect place for his target market, a lot of poker players, some with enough disposable income to be able to afford it, if they can then great if they can't no big deal but he gets the third degree, probably goes back to his mate and says what the hell was that about, i went on there and they chased me off because i hadnt contributed to the community enough, i just want to sell a poker number plate not discuss online poker all day

I`d seen that reg by chance a few days previous

Knew it was up online for 6k odd (regtransfers)

When the "charity" bit was thrown in,piped up because didnt want anyone to get nipped

No mention of it being touted elsewhere,so thought it was the right thing to do after discussions of a £50 a ticket auction that may or may not have gone up in smoke

Thanks for the example Tikay, nice to see some of the helpful nature of the online community that i had heard about.

Again i take your point about the original post (im assuming thats what u mean by OP) needs to be reasonable and well put together.

I DID NOT expect in any way to just turn up on this forum and have a mutitude of people falling over themselves to offer to buy
the registration plate from me - There are a number of reasons why :

1)  The MAJORITY of people do not have that kind of money to spend individually on a luxury such as a car registration plate, however given that
I assume that this forum is visited by some of the top pros (as it was suggested this is the most active forum)  then if there was a player who was
interested in buying it then the forum would have been the only place i could think of to "advertise" it as an option,  I do appreciate that it would
appear that i may be using the forum as an "Exchange and Mart" but surely as a forum then this would not really be that much as an issue as i am
sure that over the years you have had a multitude of posts about a wide variety of things - given that some will have been genuine and some scams.

2) The idea of raffling something and getting people who do not know me to buy a ticket for something that may not exist is ludicrous at best.
I UNDERSTAND THIS - My post, Like allready stated, was mainly about trying to see what people thought of it as an IDEA to see if it could be VIABLE
to be held at a large poker festival somewhere - IF this option was to be explored then obviously i would need to check out a number of issues -
The casinos / card rooms may not allow this anyway as i am not sure how raffles are regulated under the licensing laws - HOWEVER someone suggested
that because it is to raise money for charity then this is acceptable - i would need to have checked into this further.

AGAIN as allready stated i would look to show the credibility of this by either meeting any purchaser in person and showing them around the hospice then going through
the necessary paperwork together OR If the raffle was to take place i would look at getting the hospice involved to have a representative actually
turn up at the decided venue so that would be raffle purchasers can see and learn a bit about the work that the donation will be helping.
