Well played for coming on to defend your friend. However, you are fighting a losing battle. There was a lot of banter in the thread, mainly light hearted. Then he turned around and does the unforiveable by wishing a horrible illness on people or their families.
No excuse is ever acceptable for that.
I did not see that
, obviously you are correct in this respect. Clusterfuck completely everywhere.
Andrew, the trolling starts at post 2 and continues for pages.
but you re-read the thread. it's still up where he posted it and it's been quoted at least 3 times

I mean what the fuck, if he'd posted his real name would it have made a difference? Its not like he knows anyone anyway. Ridiculous and depressing.
Level?
Of course it makes a difference.
Even after the posted the picture of the DVLA thing, people still questioned his ownership. Lets be honest, in his situation no one would post there name. He handled the situation poorly at first, and ultimately snapped in an unacceptable manner, i just wish to highlight the fact that he is not the only one guilty of behaving inappropriately, even if what he said is far worse than others actions.

He wasn't to know this, but he would never have raised a penny on here from someone buying the plate. There's a long and unfortunate history on here with car plate threads, for starters, and people are extremely wary of others motives with these types of threads.
It's also very easy for a new member to completely misunderstand the humour behind some of the replies. This isn't his fault
tikay tried to explain everything several times, politely and in depth, to help him understand
In the end he completely took the wrong end of the stick on a very dry, ironic remark and made a frankly disgusting post.
Its a shame all round, but it wasn't as if people weren't trying to make him see the bigger picture on here

edit: I didn't read page 8 very well at all, and what he said is so far out of line its untrue. However, i think a lot of what I said is true.
Not so much a friend as a guy I've played with, who i know to have the plate and have the intention of giving the proceeds to charity!

Guy,
there's no need to use the phrase "absolute bellend of a troll" either!
Just not helpful is it?

I don't know if anybody's interested but I've bought the plate and I'm interested in selling it on.
Conclusive proof of ownership is below in case anybody has any doubts whatsoever about the validity of this.

Whilst what he said was wrong, his heart was in the right place, and all it would have taken was a personal message or someone to tell him he had no chance. I saw you post saying that, but if someone had messaged him it would hav e been settled. I know I'm up against it here, but I don't feel like anything i said was wrong. The trolling in a thread about a charity auction, in which the person clearly states, "This is for a friend who recently passed away", is virtually as bad as what he said. I'm just asking for people to think about the situation and respond accordingly, the banter and trolling on blonde is amusing, but in this thread, really?
For the most part Mr Tightend sir, trying to make him see the bigger picture consisted of "£2.45" and "LOL license plates, tatoos are where its at now son."
If I go to the next charity thread on here, start questioning people, even post DVLA proof, then i hope someone calls me out on it too.
Whatever Evil, if someone had really tried to help, and actually messaged him or asked for other details, perhaps before the mountains of trolls descended from there homes on the mountaintop or from underneath their bridges then something could of been worked out here. Even if that was a thanks but no thanks

I happen to agree with you that on forums a "mob mentality" piling into an easy target is very undesirable. All I am trying to say was that attempts were made to give the new poster some perspective and context on why people were reacting as they were.
I happen to believe that describing as trolls people who were posting "£2.45" etc is a bit OTT. It was obviously lighthearted

you may be making great points but no-one's going to listen when you're trying to justify the actions of someone who's made one of the most unacceptable posts I've ever read on here
just give up

As soon as he swerved telling people his name he was screwed to be honest.
He actually started off pretty well with a light hearted reply to Ironside's first £2.50 offer. His posts were also reasonably articulate and appeared well thought out until the infamous dig at the guy hiding behind the Blonde name StuartHopkin.
He said that telling people his name wouldn't make a difference? Well I'm sorry but that's just plain wrong.
If he'd come on and said that he was an acquaintance/friend of Adam Picken who posts as rfgqqabc and had been pointed in this direction by him that would've been a great start.
To have then added that his name is xxx and he plays at such and such a card room with Adam would have added a huge amount of credibility. Certainly more than posting a picture of a document that anybody can grab of the internet.

I think he just wanted to shift a number plate he overpaid for.
He thought the idea of making some of the money going to charity would make it easier to sell.
His motives and behaviour were shady from the start.
He was trying to use this forum for his own ends and when he was sussed out he threw his toys out of the pram in the most spectacular way.

All the arguments aside.
Ban Guy imo.
StuHopkins post was funny and i can't see how that could be misinterpreted, its in his name.. Also i shouldn't admit it but boshi's Gertrude comment had me laughing the most.
I have had all sort of illnesses wished on myself, my family, and even my pets in poker chat boxes. Stuff like that make me
