Hi guys and gals.
I hope this is in the right place, if not - apologies!
Well, I'm new on here although I used to frequent cardschat forum back when FT was still going and I played regularly!

I am a recreational player these days. I have a couple of hundred dollars on Stars and a few quid loaded onto Dusk Till Dawn after joining last week, but last year I got married, opened my own business and before christmas we had a little girl - so daily grinding took a back seat ever so slightly! At the moment I'm squeezing in the odd 2 hour session of PLO or NLHE on my days off and hitting a big sunday guarantee once a month (when I can satellite my way in).
I still enjoy the online game, and I was actually quite surprised to find that micro and low stakes just about hold the same allure for me as a solid game of £400nl at the £2/£4 tables. The thrill is still there and I am slowly coming back into the game when my schedule allows.

Which brings me to my point.
In July I turn 30, and everyone is mithering about what to get me. My wife is buying me a new watch (my first passion has always been vintage watches), and my parents think they might like to treat me to a 'buy-in' to a decent size poker tourney. The live game is awesome, but I confess I've never sat down at a bricks and mortar MTT for more than £50. What I'm looking for is a well structured game for somewhere around the £200 mark that will be an enjoyable experience even if I'm totally outclassed at the tables.    Grin
Not a re-buy, and not a short blind donk-fest if possible. The only place I can't play is Grosvenor casino (long story   Wink ) , aside from that I'd travel just about anywhere in the UK, although the closer to the North West the better.
Any recommendations?

I'm looking forward to getting involved here, although I suspect my input will be negligible to begin with I'm afraid!

Many thanks. Kev.

Welcome to blonde

I would say this, as we partner with DTD but you won't get a better live poker experience for under £200 than playing at DTD in Nottingham, but I happen to beleive its true

Weekend comps from £15 to £150, plus bigger every month

take a look at http://www.dusktilldawnpokerclub.com/

Welcom back to the world of live poker. As most people are saying DTD is looking like yer best bet for a game but it dose all come down to how far away you are. I mean how far north west r u DTD could be a right trek away. Anyway Gl were ever you plan to play

Pmsl let's not go there Tony.

Welcome to blonde. Please give Dtd a go. Play one of the £150's that we cover the live coverage for then your family and friends can follow your progress.  There really is no better venue in the country than Dtd and people can put you right on a hotel for the night. Play day 1b the Saturday and then hopefully make day 2 and the final on Sunday. Gl

As has been said, DTD is the nuts.

I'd go and play a few evening comps first though, get used to it, and then play a bigger comp - like one of the deepstack events.

I'm sure you could get a car-load of people together for the trip as well to make it more fun.

Oh, and welcome to blonde

Thanks for the great replies guys. I had a feeling D2D was going to be flavour of the month.
I'm based in Manchester but a friend of mine is originally from Nottingham and said he'd have a wander along with me. His game is worse than mine, but he enjoys the crack.  Roll Eyes

I've played a fair bit live, but £20 and £30 freeze-outs and low stakes (£1/£1) cash mainly.
In fact as part of our honeymoon last year we spend a weekend in vegas but I didn't play much at the poker tables, more Roulette and Blackjack since thats as far as my wifes gambling talents stretch!
I'll crack on with the D2D site and see if I can't satty my way into something then!

Thanks again.
