Just had the new pasta dish off the specials menu.

Probably the best meal I've had at DTD! Keep it in the new menu one timeeeeeee!
How many servings did you have?

Generally, I don't think it really is that important to DTD.

DTD is in the middle of a industrial park and is bang next to Nando's, so they definitely can't compete with that. I think people who are there have already made a decision on whether they are eating at DTD or not.

Usually when me and Ken come over we just either eat at Nando's, local kebab shop or some other alternative. It's just difficult to take a fancy to the menu at DTD to be fair.

I was really happy to see there was a roast beef baguette and also a roast dinner available recently. Obviously it was popular because by the time I went on my dinner break, they had none left.

Maybe not if you play there now and again, buy when your playing most nights of the week, the small menu can soon get repetative.

The daily specials is such an easy concept that sholuld have been brought in a long time ago.

For some balance I was at the G Casino in Coventry at the weekend, and the food there is pretty dire.

Quite a few tried the burger and chips, and the burgers were minute, rock hard and took a while to be served.

Valets were none existent, so everyone had to go to the bar for drinks or to order food. Actually, there was one valet. She was there serving the 200 poker players herself, so hardly fantastic service despite her best efforts.

So it's not all bad at DTD, and with the new chef, it sounds like it's going to be getting better as well.

Everything is important to DTD. That's why they are so successful.

Not sure if it is that important really? It's going to be hard for them to compete food wise with their location to a couple of other food outlets, no?

As for G Casino food, in general it is very poor. I hear nothing but complaints about the food at the G at Sheffield when there, also all the menu's at G Casino's are exactly the same Sad

Pretty shocking to have only 1 valet for 200 players but all casinos don't give a shit about tourney players and see em more of a hindrance. When Dtd valets are busy you often see Rob and Simon helping out by collecting up finished plates etc. At G you get a manager telling a supervisor to tell the 1 valet to clean the plates away.

Of course Dtd cares about everything as Tom pointed out. If I was the Chef I would not wanna come onto a forum on my day off to get flamed about my life's passion. He obviously cares and will take some people's views and look to improve the menu.

The food on Sunday at DTD was immense. The Roast Dinner took Nando's and Frankie and Benny's, tossed it into the trash and stuck two fingers up at it

It is entirely possible to compete with the local outlets

I just don't get Nandos.  It's chicken and chips with a moderately harsh garlic sauce?

Never had a Nando's so can't comment really.  I just get the impression it's for the student/20's crowd.  Not somewhere I'd consider taking the mother in law to be fair.

I could be miles off though.

Especially considering there isn't really that much competition right on the doorstep of DTD, if there was a full range of fast food outlets plus a couple of supermarkets as alternatives then I don't think it'd be that important, but as it is a bit of a range at DTD itself makes it so much more appealing than the alternatives.

Lol

Nandos is exactly what it sets out to be, chicken and chips. Nothing more nothing less.

F & B's is dire and the one near DTD is getting worse and worse. The service is horrendous and the food disgusting.

Chiquito's is the best out the three which is only due to the other two not putting in any sort of a show.
Still has mediocre food and poor service.

Pretty sure DTD can compete with this without too much effort, and I look forward to seeing them try.

Plus, who wants to leave the card-room and walk to a fast food joint in the middle of the night (perhaps in the rain) every time they want something to eat?

That's about 6 times a night for me btw....

Had the special at the weekend and thought it was really good. Specials menu is a great idea and I would think something the chefs would appreciate.

Also nandos is by far the best chain in England and it's really not that close! There are far too many mediocre to bad food chains (frankies and bennies, tgi etc.). Definately worth a try if you haven't. I'd recommend the half chicken (hot marinade) with chips & coleslaw...mmmm....
