A month ago, this conversation happened

Kirsty Thompson (Head of UK Gaming for PokerStars) "you can GTE £1M if you want - haha"
Rob Yong  "would you really let us GTE one of your UKIPT events?"
Kirsty "why not, it's been done before in Spain, where a venue GTE'd a tour event for so and so, if you're serious, I can speak to head office"
Rob (turning to Nick and Simon) "What do you reckon"
Nick (puts head in hands) "aghhhhh"
Simon "lets do it"
Rob (turn to Nick) "only if Nick says its okay"
Nick "jesus (pause).... okay"
Rob "Fine, lets do it, please call your head office Kirsty"

5 minutes later...........

Kirsty "they said it's fine"
Rob "Cool, we just need to find 830 players, Jamie, you will definitely generate 600 right?"
Jamie (Pokerstars Marketing) "erm, well, at least 500"
Rob "Great, so maybe we need 930 then, you're on, 100%"
Nick (head in hands) " "

and you can see the whole story behind what should be a remarkable event at

Today that conversation becomes a reality with Day1a of the £1m Guaranteed PokerStars UKIPT Nottingham, 2012

It looks like being a sell out for all three starting days, 450 plus alternates per day. A few seats remain on the door for today

As Rob says "PokerStars are used to achieving multi-million pounds prizepools in their Sunday Million and EPT's, but a £1 million pound event at Dusk Till Dawn, even though its not our event, would mean a lot to the all of the DTD Team and staff"

On blonde Poker alone the interest in this event has been phenomenal. 18,000 views of Rob's diary and the UKIPT thread. Over 50 news articles, over 80 Tweets and facebook articles.

I'll be live updating all six days til we find a winner on Monday night and thanks to Stars and DTD for allowing blonde in for this.

This might just be the greastest blonde Live Update ever.

Good luck to all playing (especially if I have a bit of your action!), & special good vibes to Rob, Nick & Simon, who are going to have a few testing days.

Big up to Tighty, too, who will be doing his usual splendid work. Go easy on him, solo updating on 500 runner jobbies is "quite hard".

Right then, so who amongst the blondes can we expect to see playing today?

Well here's an idea of the names in the field today

http://www.dusktilldawnpokerclub.com/result-info.php?id=2644

Play begins at 12pm with 15,000 chips and a 60 minute clock

Six levels for late reg and alternates to 7.40pm

See you then.

For the very few geeks amongst us (guilty as charged) who measure the "views" on blonde every single day, 18,000 views in around a month is quite something.

Says it all.

Orf we go......

Gl to Kev Smith. Overdue a deep run in a live event. Much like myself he is his own worst enemy. Hoping he's saved his play good for a huge one!

My usual 5% swop with Chippyman, 2.5% for the cleaners who have been looking after Cos whilst he has been in Thailand, 2.5% for RSQ winner and Japanese on the inside Kinboshi and rest for my myself and the boys who get our boyish good looks from their Indonesian grandma. First of all, congratulations DTD for putting on such an amazing event. Top guarantee, with a top tournament to match. Rob, Simon and everyone else involved have a done a great job to get there!

Gl to Kev Smith. Overdue a deep run in a live event. Much like myself he is his own worst enemy. Hoping he's saved his play good for a huge one!

Got to mirror George above, good luck Kev. Top chap, great player and deserves a deep run!
