My mate has just won a trip to vegas on june 30th from playing pub poker, so I have finally talked the wife round to letting me go with him!

I know there is probably 100's threads on vegas but I would just like a bit advice on places to avoid and places worth playing poker. I know WSOP is on but those events our not covered by our bankroll!!

all in put welcome

Don't bother walking further North than Encore.  By day, there's nothing there worth going to anyway.  By night, you won't feel too safe either.  Downtown, don't venture away from Fremont St Canopy.

The main poker action is going to be Venetian/Pallazzo/Bellagio/Caesars/Rio/MGM/Aria/Wynn.  Downtown is Nugget/Binions.  Once you have gone through that lot, you will have a better idea of what's what and searching out places you like/don't like should be all part of the fun for your first trip.

There are iphone apps, websites, magazines, threads on Blonde etc that cover the cheap shove-fest tournaments at random casinos also.

Dont waste your time or money with fancy restaurants, get yourself to Planet Hollywood and lookout for this sign.

Don't go wandering too far off the strip ,if you go downtown stay in the main areas ,there's a load of us going to the nugget from the 20 June ,good tourneys there plenty chips n a decent clock

I look forward to a trip report.

I will be interested to see if you agree with Milligan, that it is better than the amazing selection of good restaurants in Vegas, or if you agree with me that it is no more than a mediocre sarnie only slightly above the Tesco Finest range.

Sandwiches are sandwiches to me, I base Milligans appraisal of the place on the fact he's a tight crabfat and just doesn't like spending stripclub tokens on food (which is surprising)

I'm with Stuart on this one.  I prefer Capriottis, but ultimately, they are sarnies ~ ok for a pit stop.  Places like HashHouse or Peppermill are also medicore with oversized portions seemingly the main attraction. For a few dollars more, there are a many many great dining options that don't break the bank.
