Blinds 25-50

Villian opens to $150 in EP stack ($2300) 46bbs    no details on player...

Hero calls  in LP stack ($5575)  111.5bbs
*Addition: I've been raising quite a few hands PF but this is the first time I'm calling a hand.*

FLOP:

Villian shoves for $2150 43bbs   {pot is $375)

Do you call or fold?  and reasons why you pick your option?

Fold, because he has bet 43bb into a very small pot!

Seriously though, we have all the sets in our range so we are completely fine with villain doing this.

If the player is a absolute lunitic would you stilll Folfl the 43bb shove on the flop even though your flop equity is 75% vs a random hand?
Or would your stack size come into play here as well as the equity?

If the player was an absolute lunatic, and really was likely to have any two random cards, then no of course I would not fold. Same if I knew villain had not looked at his cards.

I'm not so sure that this is a situation where we get to type in 'random' into stove; can't give him every combination. I'd fold, his shove into a pot of 375 is pretty dumb.  He could always be one of those players that over shoves aces into a board with even the slightest coordination because they're scared and they simply must win when they have aces. They tell their friends how they always lose with aces because the hands where the other player folds are never big so they don't remember them and then they occasionally get snapped off by the nuts and it infests in their brain forever!

Yeh trivial fold, unless you think he's really shoving like 90%.

1) Open PokerStove

2) Find a jamming range for villain that makes our call breakeven (i.e. the range that gives our hand the exact same equity that we need given our pot odds)

3) If he's jamming wider than that go to (4) if not, fold

4) Call

5) Hold

6) Win

Going to throw my opinion out there, i think the advice given was given based on the hand and making the 'correct decision' irrespective of money.

By saying it's only a $11 tournament makes it sound like you think thats a low level so you can just call off, i agree at these stakes you would probably see him showing up with AK a fair few times as ive seen it happen at these stakes alot. However by playing these stakes, it must be the right level for your current BR, so you shouldn't let the cost affect your decision.

Therefore making the correct decision is important, in this case a fold is fine, try not to worry about the buy in level, and concentrate on making the right decisions at the right time at all stake levels.

So even though its a $11 game on stars does not matter?

I think, in general terms, the flop all-in is a very poor play from the player here. but just because someone we suspect to be a weaker player makes what appears to be a bad move, this doesn't mean we should call simply for those reasons.

Ofc, the villain in this hand could have had reasoning why the flop over-shove is a really good play, due to the history/dynamic/reads he has on your friend, but they would have to so specific that it makes this play being a well thought out, skillful one quite unlikely

Simplest way o look at it, either you arre a little bit right, or  very wrong.
