Tikay that final table was my first view of poker in the vic, I remember getting introduced to peter it was days after he had won a limit holder event with at the time a world record field of about 1000 players think it was a 50$ or 100$ buy in
Correct, 1,166 runners.
There were load of Limit tourneys back then, they are very rare beasts these days. In Live poker, Peter ruled the world in about 2001-2003. and he still played the tenner rebuys in Gala Notts, quite often playing what he called "no look" poker.
It was weird in the late 90s - it was all pot limit in the uk and the majority was limit in vegas, both cash and tournies. I think it was the pokermillion that really started no limit.

some things dont change
New fans of poker know Andrey Pateychuk as one of the up-and-coming superstars of the game. He's earned himself about $2 million in the past year, winning two major titles along the way.
Chris Bjorin has that beat. The Swede has long been counted among the best players in the world, and his $5+ million in career earnings give Pateychuk something to aspire to. There's also those two bracelets that Pateychuk still lacks. So far, at least.
In any event, we just watched the two men mix it up in a good pot. It was sixth street before we walked up to these boards:
Pateychuk: (x-x) / / (x)
Bjorin: (x-x) / / (x)
Bjorin was the one doing the betting on sixth and seventh streets, and Pateychuk paid him off.
"Trips and a six-low," Bjorin announced as he showed / . Pateychuk took one quick look to make sure Bjorin knows how to read a Stud/8 hand — he does — then tucked and mucked.

When Matt and Chris were heads up someone shouted from the rail
"Come on Matt, you can't lose to a former member of Abba!!"

Got a decent shot at a good start to the series.
Bought 4% of Bryan Pellegrino is a few early events and he's one of the top 5 or 6 stacks in the $1500 PLHE

Gogogoogogo Primo! Might make it to Vegas in time for the final to rail him!

Woken up by a text message saying the flight is 2 hours delayed.
Marvellous.
Switch on computer to find my horse is chip leader in the $1500 PL HE with 17 left.
(With my least favourite player in the world directly on his left with a huge stack... bust him plzzzzzz)
Gogogogogogo Primo.
