Lordy Lordy, yes, of course I do, great great lad. That was about his first decent bink, & the first time I had met him. He was a blonde already then.

Look at those names! That must have been one of Mr Bedi's earliest Live cashes. To be honest, I have no recollection of George being there.

You'll have to pardon the oh-so-rare opportunity to chirp, but that was their May Fessie, & on top of that 3rd on the Thursday, I also won the Main, which started on the Friday. Actually, more likely, reading the result, I chopped it.

I flopped a set against the late Dave Smith & busted him, but the kid "Koky Yu" (yup, that was his real name) was a right handful. We played cash afterwards, & he got about £1,500 back from me, & more from Compo.

Compo & I were doing "Poker Week" there, for next door, it was all a bit surreal for me to be the winner of an Event we were covering for TV. Probably the last time I did something I could chirp about.

We tried to record the "wrap" on the balcony, overlooking the greyhound track (there was a meeting on), & had to do some 30 takes, every time we hit our stride, "So that's it from Poker Week here in Sheffield" the stadium PA would make an announcement about some nonsense.

This went on for nearly 45 minutes, before we realised we were having our leg lifted, Lawrence Gosney had teed up the PA man to speak every time Compo started his outro.

That's a fantastic story.

Haven't seen Mr Gosney in a while. I was railing him when he won his bracelet beating one of the most obnoxious American players around, Dustin Woolf, who is currently spending some time at one of Obama's finest jails. My heart bleeds for him. Not.

Sorry I don't recall you being there George, the old memory is buggered.

I do recall Barry Neville finalling, he was a standing dish up there in those days, & in the breaks, he'd flog suits from his car boot.

Room full of smoke? It was the nut worst place on earth for smoke. Ashtrays on the table, 12 or 13 players to a giant table, eyes watering from the smoke, George Geary puffing away at THE biggest cigar you ever saw. Thewy used to take a fan with him to clear the smoke, George Geary later got one, it was HUGE.

The chips there were disgusting too, they were so filthy that you could pick up a stack of 5 or 10 by the top chip, the rest would just stick together. Riffle chips there? Forget that.

It might - prove me wrong - also be the only Licensed Casino I can ever recall that had a 200 denom tourney poker chip. (As well as 25's, 50's, & 100's). Never understood that.

Thanks Keith. I sometimes wish I could forget forums & just write stories every day. I've loved Blogging from Vegas, but there are just not enough hours in the day.

I was there when Lawrence binked too, & when Mr Arsey American decided to start with his speech play on Gosney, we all snap knew he was dead in the water, Gosney minced him, rinsed him, & spat him out. Why is Woolf in Prison? Drug related?

I have not spotted Lawrence in Vegas this year, no. He just does his own thing, usually on impulse. Very wealthy man actually. He used to kill the £20-ers up in Bradford & Sheffield, win them night after night, & was an amazing Padooki player, the Padooki games up there were well big.

Naps Sheffield was very popular then, & the Notts lads always came up & we'd have a meal before, Thewy, Jamie Moult, Red-Dog, Ralphy Boy, Ian Oldershaw & Co. The Blackpool lads used to come across, too, plus there were a whole bunch of bent buggers who played there.

Whoops, Episode 27 of all Our Yesterdays there, I'll confine them to my diary in future.

I wasn't there long tony and it was my first tourney on the live circuit. Quite a big buy in for me. Pretty funny thinking back. I remember when first travelling the circuit I'd get a real buzz being at the same table as some of the old school Brit pros such as cold lough, beevers, Vaswani etc. seems a lifetime ago!!!

I think it will be very close to the bubble tonight.

In 3.5 levels today, they hsve gone from 1,753 to 927, & they have 3 hours (1.5 levels) remaining. It slows down incredibly near the bubble, but they are dropping like flies - 800 in 3.5 levels!

Anyway, good luck Boba.

I have stolen this story from next door with a little adaption - different audience - as I'm juggling Updates on both sites, but as I wrote it, I guess it's OK. Wink

What would you do here?

Marc's table is the absolute centre of attention, it is by the ropes, there is a HUGE rail,, plus ESPN are there with 3 cameras, a sound man with his "boom" microphone, all the gubbins, it's hard to even get near it.

It includes three great players & 3 very good players, three of the players cover Marc, & thay are all going at it hammer & tongs, 3 & 4 betting pre every hand, no quarter asked or given, it is THE most exciting thing to watch, attack attack attack.

So, Marc opens, as per, & picks up a caller from Mr Hat.

Marc c-bets the flop & turn, & after much deliberation, checks the river.

Mr Hat now fires out a mini-bet, 37,000 into about 90,000.

Marc thinks for ages, stares his man down, Hat stares back, + a bit of speech play from Hat. I don't now if Marc is gonna raise him, fold, or call with 9 high or some equal spanners.

Eventually, Marc lets go.

And then this happens......

Marc has pushed his cards towards the Dealer, face down, ditto the winner.

But now an ESPN guy with a little Z50 camera or similar (a hand-held mini-camera) wants to SEE the two hands.

So the Dealer touches the muck with Marc's hand to "kill it", & Marc is given his cards back. The cameraman now gets Marc to show his "dead" hand to the mini-camera.

Nobody else can see them. Rinse repeat for Mr Hat's hand.

Bear in mind that the players sign a Disclaimer saying that ESPN MAY record the action, film the table etc, but I very much doubt - in fact I am sure - they cannot "force" a player to reveal his hand.

In those circumstances, would YOU show your hand to the camera?

Me? No chance, forget that. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but why should I?

That was one of my favourite memories of Vegas , watching a mate win a bracelet. I remember him busting Dusting Woolf ,all in preflop 22 vs KK and Lawrence hitting a 4 card flush with the 2 clubs.  Cheesy
