Before I go about this later, can you tell me if the puzzle requires more or less than 5 moves please?

(I usually stitch myself up trying to get the job done in 2)

More. What I'd suggest is have a play around with it and see where you get

There are a number of tricks and traps in it and it isn't as easy as the mate in 2 puzzles that more commonly get posted. You aren't looking for a checkmate.

If you have a play with it, you'll see that Black often gets a draw or better from this position. For example, if it is Black to move, he'll win by pushing the a-pawn up.

As suggested, I'll post tomorrow with an analysis of the position.

OK. I have the solution to the TomSom-Carlsen joint venture puzzle.

Reveal tonight.

my first thoughts was Re5+ & if king moves to protect the a pawn then check with the b pawn so being able to get the rook onto a4 or a3

now think Re4 is the move , looked at some nice lines involved with sacing the rook on a1 & blocking the king in & promoting the pawn

Brilliant.

And if the king doesn't take the rook on a1?

You know you're basically there, but just tidy it up with the options for Black. It's an absolute beast, which I'm both looking forward to going through and dreading missing something in when I do!

What that?

It is a position from which you have to move but every possible move results in a loss. If you could say "Pass. Your go", you'd be OK, but you have to move.
