If you are out and about, the World Championship site is here:
http://chennai2013.fide.com/fide-world-chess-championship-2013-live/
Might be better for mobiles. The engines FIDE use are pretty good for analysis. Always good to know who is winning.

I think this could be our first decisive game.
Always good to look out for pawn swaps where there isn't an open file created. Now, Anand has more pawns on the queenside and Carlsen on the kingside. The imbalance is what gives us the best chance of a result.
Anand will need to sort his position out first - c6, a5, get the knight out and then the bishop. Going to take a while to rejig, but he probably has the time. What can Carlsen do in the interim?
Could be a long game, here.

A *rollzeyez* article:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-24904517
"10 reasons Chess will never make it as a spectator sport"
Cliffs: journalist reassures the general public they will not watch chess on tv.
What the journalist does miss is that when events like this are streamed online for free they already reach a very large percentage of the target demographic (active chess players).
As an active chess player who also watches a lot of sport there's nothing I'd rather watch right now than Anand vs Carlsen. Admittedly this feeling might be due to the rarity of such events but we will never be able to tell unless Sky Sports starts showing Premier League Chess once they lose the right to the EPL to BT sport.
Perhaps someone give us a bit of feedback on the publics reaction to Short vs Kasparov being shown on Channel 4. In my own personal experience non active chess players (those who know how to move the pieces and have some tactical understanding of the game) speak positively about chess in situations where it's socially acceptable to do so.

I remember there being a huge amount of pre-game buzz about it, but it evaporated pretty quickly once a) people got bemused by the bit after the opening when a new move was made and then one of the players sat there for half an hour thinking (poor Carol Vorderman trying to think of anything vaguely interesting to ask Raymond Keene to fill the time) and b) when it obv became clear Short was getting a new arsehole torn.

I think Carlsen is going for a win, here. 28.e3 is risky, where taking the bishop and freeing up the light squares would be an obvious way to equalise. I wonder whether he is planning to take back with the rook. Maybe he would take the bishop if Anand takes on e3 before recapturing.
(I'm running without commentary, so happy to hear what is actually going on!)

Commentary says no risk to black white playing for a draw.

That's definitely true now. I'm really surprised he played e3 if he wasn't trying for more than that, though. I wonder what he missed.

can only see a draw here , opposite bishops so think either player can force a draw by just trading rooks & queen off & only lose if they over extend

Should be shaking hands shortly, now they have made the time control and the position is level. The psychological play here might be to play on as White and make Black rue the good position he had for an hour or so.

Anand seemed to be in control but then made a mistake at 37. Rxd3
Rd8
He had plenty of time when the mistake was made.
Bd4 ftw, the fish. Rd8 was a confirmed #terripunt
