Went down to The Fox Club with Julian to Play Leg 2 of The Genting Tour in March.

On Arrival Julian was informed he would be playing at another casino and was immediately put into a taxi .  It turned out lots had been drawn as the Fox didnt have the capacity to seat everybody.

Nobody really seemed to know what was happening and I had to wait 4 hours before my seat became available. It was hot and sweaty and the players were crammed in like Sardines , with lack of information and little or no valet service it was hard to concentrate on the poker.

I made day 2 and cashed for £1300ish but when I went to collect I was told I would need to come back with my passport or driving license before they paid out ,which I thought was strange considering they let me join the casino and play the tournament . I eventually got my money after an hour negotiating .

Overall it was a bad experience though appreciate things could be different at other Genting venues .

Ill be playing at Dusk Till Dawn

I thought most casinos had a policy of showing ID when cashing out over a certain amount?

With regards to the overspill, 580 players turned up to play at the Fox, which was much more than ever expected.  To accomodate them all, players were put in taxis that Genting paid for, and taken to play at the Palm Beach.

It was very hot on day one A but that was sorted out for the remainder of the week. I can't work out why you would have had to wait 4 hours for your seat though, or do you mean you were an alternate and you had to wait four hours for A seat?

Caroline, why do you think they put so many legs on the first weekend of the month when this has been dtd's deepstack event for years. Have you been at Bolton this week? Numbers there have been massive compared to other summer series venues. Gonna pop up to Bolton Saturday night ( gotta fetch someone from the airport at 3am Sunday ) if you fancy a drink or something to eat. Hoping to fetch Ravi too Smiley

 DTD start days:

 Day 1a – Friday 5pm (last reg 7pm)
Day 1b – Saturday 5pm (last reg 7pm)

Stoke ; Thursday/|Friday start days at 1pm

....so at just £200 at DTD, players will be keen , if busting Stoke.

Stoke is looking like 150k+ (375+ players)

I didn't relies that was the starting times of the comps.

How far is the drive from stoke to DTD..

I'm tempted to do the D-GEN thing and go stoke first.....

Play like a loony and if I bust go to DTD.

The clock and structure is the only thing making me swing towards Stoke first.

Otherwise every over reason I should go to DTD

Are any of you lot playing?

I love playing playing at DTD. It has great atmosphere and is is just great for serious poker tournaments.

Up until recent months though their blind levels and payouts structures were inferior to most other poker tours in the UK.

However, recent tweaks are addressing this and the increase in starting chips and the WSOP blind structure are huge steps forward. My main concern is that they may disappear as quickly as They came but I hope not.

The GPS is a great tour and I am sure that most serious players in the UK are faced with the same delima  as the OP When the GPS clashes with DTD deep stacks. It's a real pity for the sake of the players and no doubt both organisations that the schedules were not planned better. As DTD have had their deep stacks on first weekend of month for years I guess that  GPS could have been better scheduled.

However GPS seems to be selling out so clashing is not effecting their business.

More and more players want deep starting stacks, lots of blind levels and a long clock, and I am definitely one of them.

I played the two previous GPS events because of their structures which were better than the DTD deep stacks, especially when DTD were 15k stacks 40 min clocks and big jumps in blind levels.

If DTD added the 1 hour clock to a monthly £500 or £400 or whatever, I think they would clean up and totally dominate.

In the London leg I was lucky enough to win a seat into a GPS event under their flopped Aces promotion. If the dealer deals a flop of AAA then all players seated at that table win a seat. Nice surprise to most of us at the table.

So I will be free rolling at stoke and if I bust I will have a tough decision. re enter this very good event or hot foot it over to DTD.

All said I am now a DTD reg so it won't be long before I'll be soaking up the best atmosphere in UK poker and their end of August £500 is a definite.

this is exactly the subject I bought up not too long ago in a seperate thread. I will be playing Stoke as the structure is much better imo. Also DTD have the £500 500k gtd at the end of the month whereas the GPS's are 2 months+ apart.

50 miles. An hour

Definitely very possible to get to DTD.

The A50 Uttoxeter/Derby bypass takes you straight to the M1 and on to Nottingham, or vice versa
