Can you get odds on Gatlin getting a medal and then being stripped of it when he tests positive for drugs?

With this being the first Olympics under the 'one false start and you're out' rule the world record not being broken must be a huge bet at 1.49.

Corals were going 2/7 about this around 3wks ago and was gonna play then but waited. Tonight Hills opened up @ 8/15 so had to get on tho track looks ultra quick so could be a close run thing. Just hoping he sits in the blocks and doesn't dip!

Yeah it's really competitive so I still think having a 1/4 shot in there is pretty crazy.  A bit more food for thought on the gymnast front:

  • GB have never won a gold medal in gymnastics
  • Tweddle has won everything going except an Olympic medal (so ticks the recent "lifetime achievement" box)
  • British public generally loves gymnastics - not got stats to back that up, but would imagine TV figures are up there

Shame the bookies have got a bit tight with their e/w terms really.  I actually did her each way a few years back when she got 3rd in SPOTY before, but was a much weaker year.

Louis Smith lost Gold on a tie-break plus a team medal. I think the more GB golds the more chance he has of being a surprise nomination. Unless Tweddle wins a gold that is.

Think the weather's almost perfect - especially if they manage to get a 1.5m/s wind behind them as well.

Sub 9.5 s on the cards imo...

9.64s.

Blake in a good second, and a cheat in 3rd.

My take on things is that the record is unlikely to go anytime soon because... (and this could well be nonsense as I know v little about athletics!) ....any false starts leads to instant DisQ. Bolt has experienced this once (World Champs - came after he set WR?) and has had impressed upon him the fact that he can start slow and still win. Don't think others have the pace. Bolt could break it at a minor meet where pressure is off re: start but he's less likely to be in tip-top shape at these.

Thoughts?
