Yeah, it talks about god and the king - but still a far better national anthem than GSTQ.  At least it's about the country rather than the old bird who is meant to 'reign over us'.

Can we get another national anthem?  It's bollocks.  I'd prefer one about the country, like Australia has.

No, because we need to appreciate our queen and I know u love that kind of stuff.

Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still, and wider, shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet!

Truth and Right and Freedom, each a holy gem,
Stars of solemn brightness, weave thy diadem.

Tho' thy way be darkened, still in splendour drest,
As the star that trembles o'er the liquid West.

Throned amid the billows, throned inviolate,
Thou hast reigned victorious, thou has smiled at fate.

Land of Hope and Glory, fortress of the Free,
How may we extol thee, praise thee, honour thee?

Hark, a mighty nation maketh glad reply;
Lo, our lips are thankful, lo, our hearts are high!

Hearts in hope uplifted, loyal lips that sing;
Strong in faith and freedom, we have crowned our King!

Nah this thread is for the moaners, there is way too much hope and positive stuff in there for them. Plus not enough love for the queen

Think it was Joe Mercer in his short spell as England Manager who tried to get Land of Hope & Glory adopted as an unofficial anthem. It rang out with much more pride at Wembley than GSOQ ever did.

Back on topic - the Archery qualifying rounds are on today and people have turned up to watch because it shows in the listings as 'Unticketed' which apparently means, 'not open to the public'.

In rugby, what anthem do the Lions have played before their games? Does everyone sing that?

I don't recall them having any anthem on the last tour though.
Waste of time generally anyway.
They get hyped up to a peak in the dressing room and the adrenalin's all dissipated by time the game starts (sometimes).

Just like the Marathon course (apart from the bit that goes into the Olympic park and stadium) is also advertised as 'unticketed' - but meaning free to the public.

I only saw one episode.  Some of the things in that have been unerringly accurate!

Was this the comedy type program that was designed to make people laugh?

Who gives a flying f**k that it's not accurate? It's not designed to educate the masses you massive bell end.

Sorry Dan you aren't massive at all.
