Coming to this party a bit late but was it my imagination or during the opening ceremony when the German team came out and the coverage cut to their dignitaries was he not giving a sieg heil Nazi salute??

just checked it..his actually doing it with the left arm..instead of the right arm..is this something different..seems a bit close to me

First disappointing experience of the games for me.

Went to the springboard diving prelims tonight.

Firstly a bunch of racist Spaniards were sat in front of me, who took on themselves to hurl abuse at the Chinese divers every time they took to the springboard. Which got the evening off to a pretty annoying start,

Secondly, I don't mind clueless spectators (I'm totally clueless about diving), but when they take it on themselves to boo the judges because they don't like them giving Brits a low score (when they had no idea whether it was justified or not) it is pretty ridiculous.

Also, if I had a pound for every time one of the spectators commented on the amount of splash the divers made when they entered the water I'd have a lot of pounds. It was obviously the only bit of diving knowledge they had and they wanted to milk it to the max.

Finally, we had Category A tickets and were absolutely miles away from the divers. Category D must have been out in the car park.

All in all a pretty crap night.

Only fun moment was seeing a German diver doing a backwards version of a bellyflop and scoring 0. The diving equivalent of a golfer doing an air shot I guess.

Is it me? I just don't find Denise Lewis's punditry adds anything.

Sheis so much better than Colin jackson, it is hard to criticise her.

Hmmmm. Disagree.

Of greater concern tho is this ridiculous set of decisions in the boxing for Azerbaijani fighters. A few months back, BBC reporter had word from an insider that the chaps in charge of boxing had accepted a £9M donation from an Azerbaijani businessman on the understanding that there would be 2 golds in London.

Incredibly, it looks like there might be two Azerbaijani boxers with medals round their necks. Fair to say they have won some controversial fights already.

If they do both win, the sad thing is their victories will always be doubted.

Agreed she's a step up from Colin Jackson but she's still dire (both babble and spout utter garbage even when describing 'their own' events). Could be worse, thankfully we're no longer subjected to the muppetry of Gunnell.

Be nice to have a guest appearance from Steve Ovett if he's over for the games, I used to enjoy what he had to say.

Getting sick of the biased coverage.

The Chinese divers who won gold were incred.

Headline? "Tom Daley comes 4th".

I want completely biased coverage

I want commentators who go nuts when our competitiors achieve medals

Its our home Olympics, a bit of jingoism is not only to be expected but encouraged

As long as its not negative xenophobia, and we celebrate amazing achievements from whichever nation too, fine

I don't get it.

Why should I cheer on someone purely because they happen to have been born in the same Godforsaken island I was?

They aren't representing me. They are representing themselves.

There are members of the British squad I badly want to win - Farah, Greene, Pendleton and Ennis. not because they are British but because they are incredible athletes and seem like really top people.

There are several members I really hope crash and burn: Cavendish has already been chinned, I'm hoping for the same for Idowu, Chambers and Murray.

I was 100% wrong about this.

I've become ingrained that flag waving patriotism is associated with England hooligans or worse the BNP and EDL.

I think decent people have reclaimed the flag during these Olympics.

And the thought of Daily Mail readers cheering home Mo Farah makes m so happy.

I'm proud to be British for the first time in my adult lifetime.

Fair play to you, sir.
