As per earlier posts the dream ended relatively late on day 1, though in case investors/others are interested thought I would post up a report of key hands/amusing moments etc.
Lunch/Theory/The Best Laid Plans of Mice and MenArrived up from London in good time and nipped out for a bit of Dim-Sum with Father Gascoigne at a newly re-opened place on the Derby Road. We shot the breeze and calmed the excitement with green tea and talk of being disciplined, only opening monster hands in the early levels, keeping the inner spewtard caged.
All good so far.
Arrived at DTD and sat in the bar just long enough to see Marius walk past, a Lituanian (?) ex-dealer at the Vic who now plays for a living, and a chap off whom I am currently 0/57 in pots won. He's a properly hard barsteward.
I draw table 58/2, take my seat, and of the 455 players registered am truly delighted to see Marius arrive in 58/3. Marvelous. 453/1 pokes happen all the time to be fair.
The actual pokerFirst hand of true note unfortunately didn't go to plan. Adam Connell (? - ex-photographer at DTD) had been really quite active and opened UTG at 100/200. I 3bet the

in cut-off and he peels.

Obv pretty reasonable for my hand. He check calls.

He checks again, see no reason to slow down really, I bet & he calls.
River bricks off and he now leads 5k, which was I believe about half pot. I had been thinking if the river bricks and he checks this was basically the size I would fire as a bluff. Also figured he could be betting missed draws, though out of game time this is unlikely for any number of reasons. Final thought is that if I raise the end he should have a tough time calling with most things - my line looks pretty damn strong.
I raise. He tanks, asks if I have aces etc. etc. before calling off with AK. After the pre-match teamtalk and all those delicious dumplings we are down to 27k.
Fightback/Splashdown 1Can't remember the sequence of hands for the life of me but properly get my head down, play some decent poker imo, making good decisions coupled with a couple of hands I'm sure and we are back to 57k @ 250/500 a50.
Relatively young, but quiiite tight chap opens to 2.5x from MP on my BB. Recent history has seen me squeeze the BTN (in what I thought was a v good spot) and barrel, barrel, call for a split on something like QJ8T9, regrettably having to show the mighty 74o but mercifully, and largely unfairly, getting my money back.
Folds to me in the BB where I find

wiiiiiiiii.
I 3bet to 3.3k and he is playing 40.3k effective.
He 4balls to c8k, I jam the rest repping AK and he snaps with dem Aces.
An uninteresting runout later and we are down to 17k and on break. Marvelous.
The most bonkers 4/5 handsHand 1So we're returning to 17k @ 300/600 a75.
Folds to me in the cut off first hand back and the BB is not in his chair. I open

Brazilian/German guy in the SB flats.

He checks and I sense something, I check.

He checks and I check. I know people will think this is terribad but there was something rotten in the state of Denmark.
River bricks off and he bets basically full pot, 5k. Don't see how I can pass given how under-repped my hand is.....but I basically announce there is something funny going on here as I call off to see 87o.
Down to 10.5k.
Hand 2 - Literally the next hand.Folds to us in the cutoff and we open

from 16bigs.
Marius peels, blinds fold

I check jam over Marius' bet, he calls

, we fade and are back to c22k. Almost certainly bad post, was arguably, and regrettably, tilting a little when the Ace flopped and just thought "I'll stick it in his eye anyway".
Hand 3 - Again, literally the v next handPretty sure this one is bad.
Folds to me in MP, I open

.
Adam Connell 3bets the BB to 4k over a 1.4k open. He has 3bet from the blinds an unhealthy amount.
I jam over the top. He tank calls with

I get there on the turn, back up to 45k.
Hand 4 - there's been a few hands pass til nowShortie jams about 12bigs from the hijack, I call

from the SB, BB folds.
We are up against 88 but.....what's that? A

in the window??
We are up to c55k.
Phew. Deep breaths readers, if any of you are at a sufficiently loose end to still be here! Can't remember what happens for a while now but not too long after the table breaks and I draw 48/8.
What's that coming over the hill in 48/6? Is it Father Gascoigne? Is it Father Gascoigne?
It is!!! Well hello father. Ian looks marginally less amused than the rest of the table.
Pwning the FatherBeen at the table for about an orbit and pretty quiet.
On my BB the cut off (young Sarf London kid who is (a) hilarious and (b) tilts my dad rather cos he doesn't understand Cockney innit) opens from about 40bigs @ 400/800 a100.
My dad peels the BTN, SB calls and I check the BB with

after dwelling a squeeze but deciding I'll just pwn my dad postflop (love you dad).

We check round to my dad, who bets 6.5k into a pot of about 8k. SB folds.
I decide the Cut-off would deffo lead his value hands on the flop, apart from perhaps a set, but if he has one Gold bless him. The most key point here however is my knowledge of my dad's play, in a few disparate parts.
(i) He would 3bet a premium pre to stick it in the cockney's eye.
(ii) He would bet a set smaller on the flop.
(iii) He once read an article on taking possession of orphan flops.
(iv) He's got either

or

basically.
I raise to 14k. Cockney folds, my dad's shoulders visibly slump like the first time I nutmegged him in the garden or aced him at tennis and I know the read was on the money.
After a bit of chuntering about £xk per year on school fees and now all I get is this sh1t he passes, and morale is high.
Part 2 to follow if anyone is actually reading this and is bothered let me know!!
