The point I was trying to make is that just because Pokerstars calls it a World Championship, doesn't mean it's anything other than a series of big buyin online tournaments.

just because the RIO call it the wsop of poker doesnt mean anything apart from the fact its the biggest series of live poker same goes for all other festivals i am sure 2 different groups had scottish championships within 2 months of each other when i first started playing  UK open UK masters UK ********** all it is normally is bigger buy ins and bigger fields with pros traveling to take advantage of us fish ( i remember seeing you in the riverboat chasing the bigger fields)

Disagree.

The WSOP has a huge history.

Built up over the years to the tournament is it today.

Absolutely impossible to compare the WSOP to WCOOP imo.

Now you've lost me as well. Wcoop and wsop bracelets equally vacuous IMO, winning a tournament isn't an achievement winning money over the years is.

I don't attach any prestige to winning a WSOP bracelet myself, but I can understand those who do attach some significance to it.

Someone who has survived without sponsorship and backing for a lifetime in poker has more of my respect than someone who owns 10 bracelets.

Pokerstars sent me an email

Based on your recent tournament history, we've composed the following personalized WCOOP schedule for you. You can register for all of these tourneys now!

Obviously I'm expecting another mail offering free entry to them as they clearly didn't notice my average buy in of approx $8

I got this too. Was fairly inaccurate to me, very silly email tbh.

How are new series supposed to become prestigious if Keef puts them down before they start. Stars will be around for 50 years, and in 50 years WCOOP will be as famous as WSOP.

"I honestly doubt that in holdem the EV for the best players is more than fractionally increased, as every good player in the world is playing these."

I agree with your overview to an extent with regards to bracelets and the charade around the prestige, but their value is just to good to pass up for alot of players. For me personally its a chance to play MTT's with big prizes with structures which offer a degree postflop play. I think you underestimate its value and effects on solid players ROI's.
