With respect, I think some of the time there's an inferiority complex chip on the national shoulder too. It invents the notion of the English feeling superior and harks back to issues from several hundred years ago to validate current perceived issues

Yeah he is a proud Scotsman and rightly so. I bet there are a few from south of the border who were ready to pounce and probably had their "bottled it again" posts on standby at the end of the fourth set. Even tho it was said in jest I quite like his "anyone but England" interview. I would love to see him get to world number one and we get to see more of his personality. His watch sponsor must be over the moon today. Asking his wife where his watch was and making such a fuss was a piece of marketing gold.
