Afternoon. Interested in people's thoughts about a hand I feel I totally misplayed.

UKIPT Newcastle Main Event. Day 2 first level of the day. Table had a lot of short stacks on it. I was about 3rd or 4th in chips on the table with 36k. Dynamic is pretty unimportant as the hand was played against a guy who had literally just sat down. Steven Warburton http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=99388 who had 80k. He was late arriving and this was his first hand at the table.

blinds 400-800/50

Hero stack 36,000

Opponent stack 81,000

I'm in early position and raise to 2,000 with

Mr Warburton is in mid-position and asks how much I'm playing before flatting. Everyone else gets out of the way.

Flop is  two spades

I lead out for 2,500 and he thinks for a short while and raises to 6,100.

What would you do?

Additional info, I was very hungover and really didn't want to be there. Budvar dark is a dangerous drink. Also don't order a G&T in newcastle. They will laugh in your face while serving you and ask you if you want a slimline tonic before laughing at you again.

So taking a mid-point between the two answers I should call?

Interested in comments on all streets if people can be arsed btw. And be as rude as you like.

I'm not bet/folding certainly. The turn is awkward if we miss and you can rep a pretty big hand if you 3 bet the flop. Don't really like check calling either.

I'd 3bet flop. Recreational players will often take a raise/fold line with mid pairs on this board. Worst case scenario is top set which we have ~27% equity against. We're 55/45 favourite against overs and fd. With i think a lot of fold equity and us having a much stronger range than him it's not close.

Steve Warburton is NOT a recreational player. He is a very, very good player.

Ok cool, i always assume people in these comps to be recreational without a read/read on their appearance. My post is based on the line i'd take if i was readless.

haha, he's a very talented live player who also plays professionally online. Id call and crai most turns because stacks look nice for it and hes bluffing a tonne, id rather get more money before jogging him on.

You really think he's bluffing a tonne with no reads whatsoever? He's literally just sat down. Only just made it into his seat when the cards were dealt. We've zero history before this hand.

I think that the fact that the flop has a flush draw on it seriously devalues the strength of your draw. You are behind to literally any pair and the flop could well have hit pairs that villian would be more likely to set mine with (rather than 3-bet)-especially given that he has just joined the table, so prob assumes that your early position raise is quite likely to be with a strong hand.
I would call the flop raise, then check/fold the turn if i miss the straight draw and check/raise the turn if i hit the straight (without another heart).
I would not be at all suprised to find that you are up against a flopped set here, so i would definitely proceed with caution.

raise less pre if no dynamics 1.8 (bit pedantic)

I may jam here pretty good flop to do it and if they have overpair/set we have outs Tongue If you just came to play alot of pokers fold the flop

Shove>Fold>Call IMO obviously there is a case for all still

I did none of those. I raised to 16k total. Insta-jam from Mr Warburton.
