why "sigh"

a moderator who works for free on your forum, asks a question that is very valid and first word is "sigh"?

Adam gets paid for live updating on blonde, he doesn't work free and he's not a mod

Sorry, I didn't read that part.

I do get paid, and the only forum I have moderator access to is the Live Updates forum. I certainly don't have access to anything the overall mods (gatso, cf, Andrew, Tighty etc) do.

Sorry Adam, I was a bit frazzled

I have to get the money part right -  payments made online - and I am responsible for recording the figures correctly so was rushing around like a bumble bee around a beehive while everything was going on

 thumbs up

No need to apologise, I really should have asked privately, not my place to question a deal decision.

I felt slightly uneasy when, directly after the deal was verbally agreed, Tikay started suggesting the players leave something for the staff.  Either make such comments off stream or preferably don't make them at all?

Well done Alex.

I don't believe I said that, and if I did, I apologise. I intended to say, and I believed I did, that IF they wished to leave something for the staff, they needed to sort it, as the prize money is paid into Sky Poker accounts, not in cash.

As a postscript, I have no idea what the boys did by way of a staff gratuity, but Alex offered the Sky Poker crew a very handsome drink. We declined and suggested he give it to charity, which he did.

I had not intended that my remarks went on the stream, but I was attempting to spin several plates simultaneously. Fail.

Just FYI, it's completely common practice for staff running a tourney to say that, in fact I've never played a mid+ sized tournament where that wasn't said to the players on a final/deep-ish in the money. I'm not saying it's the right thing but it's completely standard I wouldn't have layed you 1/100 that someone was about to ask that.

Morning David.

Yes, I'm aware that is it common, almost standard, practice, in the bigger Tourneys, especially on Mainland Europe & the USA.

However, it is not so much the case in smaller & medium size buy-in stuff.

I think I've Hosted, Co-Hosted, or been "Ambassador" or Site Pro for around 60 Tournaments in the last 8 years, (Sporting Bet, William Hill, APAT, Sky Poker) and I don't think I have ever, not even once, privately or publically, suggested that the winners should tip the staff.

So I was a little surprised at what the chap (Ricardo?) Posted last night, & I'm a bit curious as to why he Posted as he did.

There is a world of difference between suggesting the staff are tipped, & suggesting how it is sorted IF they do so.

I was mentally & physically shattered when things ended last night, my adrenelin levels collapsed the moment the deal was agreed, & I became almost overwhelmed with fatigue, so perhaps I never made myself clear. However, I'm 99.9% sure I would never have said what the Gent suggested I did, & I was a just a tad irked by his suggestion, perhaps because when I'm tired I do get a shade grumpy.

It was one of those weeks, in truth, all sorts of stuff was mis-attributed to me. Never mind.

Sarah Champion

Like.

Tikay, can you set us up?

Set you up for what, Alex? Pianoforte lessons for Miss Champion?

I believe she is spoken for, though I don't pry.

I can say she is a delight to work with, we only do one or two Shows together each month, but the social chemistry is very relaxed. She is most splendidly constructed, though I would have thought a little old for you.

Her day job is as a DJ on Absolute Radio (Virgin Radio as was), & she does stuff for VH1 & MTV, & attends all the music fessies doing interviews & stuff. Think the "trade-mark" at those music festivals, V or whatever, is that she conducts the interviews in a beat-up VW Camper. She has promised me a Guest Slot on Absolute Radio, which I'm thrilled about.

Here is her Wiki page.....

Terry Thomas couldn't have put it better.
