I'm not a frequent visitor to London and probably been to London 4-5 times in my entire lifetime, but was terribly horrified at the prices whilst down there.

I think whilst I can appreciate that the prices are going to be more expensive than where I am from and the local cities, some of the prices was appalling.

I was in London to tie up a few loose ends & decided to go clubbing and pre-planned this with a couple of guys I know. We went into one bar where the prices of Becks was £4.20, OK, not so bad. But went into another nightclub (sort of) and was genuinely angry with the prices:

A can of red-star - £4.50 (not sure of retail price as I don't drink this, but prices for £1 in shops and probably they buy it for 60-70p)
Jaeagerbomb £7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sheffield, Notts and Manchester prices around £3)
Single & mixer - £5.50!!! (doubles in cities above around £3-£3.50)

I don't know what to think of these, are they standard? £7 for a JB is unreal. Looking at those prices and not being a London regular, I would expect to be taking £120 on a night out, standard?!

Other notable mentions £4.30 on tube each way (although could have been cheaper), retail prices of most things up 20% in outlets like St Pancras.

Tal, you say you paid £72 for a ticket, but then say it's disgrace, so if it is, why pay it?

There are numerous things in which I think are a disgrace, but if I think they are, I don't buy from them, etc.

You got charged out-of-towner prices.

Next time you're at any bar/club in London, you need to say ''Ere guv'nor, give me a laaaaaaaavly Jaegerbomb me old china' and you'll get charged the locals prices of 85p.

When I have finished looking for cheap goods in St Pancras I normally continue my bargain hunting at Harrods.

If I had to set a price on the first poster to mention an Oyster card Flushy would have been a 1000-1 shot and i would have happily laid it.
