Bring 300-500bb's with you and top up when needed. Nothing more tilting than losing vs a fish and next hand not getting his stack because of the difference of the previous hand.
Nothing more tilting?! I could probably name you 10 things that are at least three times more tilting than this that could happen in a live cash game!
I dont think you really NEED to be sat deeper if you don't want to be, obviously if you're playing well and you're a good player you'll be putting yourself in a more profitable position by having deeper stacks with weaker players but it doesn't mean you're not in a profitable position already.
I never used to do this, but recently (within the last year) it was highlighted to me that snap buying in and being really deep all the time isn't always the best idea, loads of times in live games recently I have lost pots and headed back to 50-60 big blinds and instead of topping up I decided to grind it out for a bit, good exercise in discipline + it allows you to "prove to yourself" you are actually playing well. Also, lets say you're in for 150 big blinds and go down to 40, then you manage a little spin back up and within an hour you've got 200, incredibly good for morale and you've increased your equity without increasing your exposure.
Maybe someone you suspect might be a strong player has just sat down on your left with 250bigs so you're happy to play short for a little bit whilst watching what he does, maybe you're tilted and need to chill.
Obv you've been in spots where you could have had more EV by being deeper, but you'll also have had spots where it's been much much easier for you because you're shallow.
Just saying there is no need to snap be topping up, loads of good reasons to not have deep stacks all the time. Good lesson in professionalism imo is figuring out when these times are.
