ChampionshipStats

2 wins in 15 for Sheff Wed;

7 defeats in 10 for Barnsley;

4 losses in 5 for Birmingham;

3pts out of 24 for Wolves

Which of these teams turns round for the better first?

Wolves?

(contrarian value betting klaxon)

Barnsley. Other three teams are pretty clueless.

Be interesting to see if IH attitude improves with a fresh challenge:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20392765

He did amazingly well for us and made the side one of the most entertaining in the country BUT he was tactically naieve and passed up/ignored so many opportunities to address basic defensive frailties. The article sheds some light on this - and Evatt isn't the kind of player to be spewing sour grapes

Evatt needs to have a word with himself.

He was terrible at QPR.

Holloway saved his carer, he should be worshipping at the altar to Ollie.

Not trashing him.

Saw Buckley at Leicester this season. Hugely impressive. Don't care about him versus Zaha, both very good indeed

Would like to throw Knockaert into the mix please. French U21 regular, all the tricks, just settling into English football. Headed for the top. Probably not with us

Was talking to someone who should know about these things.

Knockaert clearly the best player in the division according to him.

Ned to bin Powell before any promotion challenge imo.

Nice guy, not so good tactically.

You know they been skint for a fair few years now right? and I mean busto....they just been waiting for some major investors to come to push on. Powell done good really and they have 100% faith in him right now.

Since Pardew went they having been living month to month. I remember Parkinson could not take the team on a preseason camp as they could not afford to go anywhere and stay in a hotel. One of the sponsors pulled out 20k cash and told them to go away for the week somewhere Smiley  He had no chance of getting them playing well with $ restrictions.

Heard a few whispers lately as well about possible investment. As you say money has been tight, apparently a backer pulled out in the summer meaning we had a very small budget paying money for just one player. Think it could be very interesting if Powell was given some serious financial backing in the transfer window,we are def a few quality midfielders away from a play off push for now though. But who knows!

I knew there was no money to spend, but I didn't realise it was that bad.

Every single time I've seen Charlton play in the last couple of seasons, i haven't been impressed but they have almost always got out of it with a piece of individual skill, which can hardly be attributed to the manager!

I mean as in Peter Herbert of the Black Lawyers Association/Spurs Ultimatum/Breakaway 'Black PFA' fame.

He insists there are not enough black managers in the game - and Powell is kind of a poster boy...

I thought you meant Herbie on here! Smiley

I see Mr Forestieri has his very own thread on the Sheff Wed forum after last night's mauling.

A habitual pessimist I am getting excited now, so that will be a home defeat by Barnsley on Saturday I imagine.

http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/184814-forestieri/

Hornets still available at 25-1 to win the league.  Not the worst bet in the world given the huge squad, the run we are on and lights out front players.  I got 200-1 for peanuts about six weeks back - we live in hope.

Tried to get a chimp on T'Hornets to get promoted at 16-1 a few weeks ago with Sid and was offered £10 @ 16-1 and another £90 @ 12-1! Name and shame ftw.

Settled for 12-1 elsewhere but not for as much unf.

Current 8-1 still looks pleasing enough given a pretty soft December schedule imo.
