Blimey - just saw the Derby Palace highlights - never a penalty at the end there. Justice served that it was missed.
How did Palace play Ant?
Backs against the wall for most of the game.
Bolasie is the most terrible shooter of the ball, it was lucky that he had the chance to take the ball around their keeper. I believe his record before last night was scoring in every one in 27 shots. Think it is more like 1 in 20 now, so improving!
They hit the bar, had Speroni save a penalty, and had him make I believe another 3 crucial and very good saves to keep us in it. But to be frank we caught them on the counter three times ourselves but were so awful in front of goal, aside from Jedinak's long ranger that hit the bar, that we just couldn't make them pay.
Just having players from the edge of the area afraid to shoot and it is doing my nut in. Every time they look for the perfect slip in ball when they are literally on the edge of the box and the shot is free. Take the shot more often, they will close you down more, and the space to slip in the pass next time would be improved!
Never seen a 27 goals in 31 games striker look so adverse to shooting in my life. It really is amazing.
We deserved to draw yesterdays game and a loss would have been a fair enough thing to happen for us.
One other thing. The penalty was a dead cert for them mdespite it being hugely soft. Super slow moed it on the TV, Delaney goes to kick the ball, realise he can't and is pulling out of the kick when they striker puts his foot in the path of Delaney's kick and gets hit, and then falls from the kick he has received. The damning statement on how certain a pen it was, came from Damien Delaney's tweet last night where he described it as 'soft' rather than not a penalty, and no-one from our team made a fuss about it at all, so those things all add up.
Had a huge feeling Sammon was smashing that down the middle and so happy Speroni felt my vibes to do the same. He had a 10/10 performance yesterday and I am so happy he is in our colours. A true Palace legend.
Tuesday is huge and I think with Zaha and Bolasie playing as well as they normally do at home, I don't think any team in this league couldn't lose to us at Selhurst, aside from maybe Watford or definitely Brighton for some reason. When they went to our place recently, even though we beat them convincingly, up until they got their man sent off, they were well in the game.
I think we will win our remaining 6 games at home (even thought we have Hull and Leicester) and win probably 2 more of our 5 away. That may be enough to see us get automatic promotion but it's so tight.
And did you go last night Matt50? Thought our crowd was great for our noise and also I think you are being a tad harsh on Bolassie, who before coming off, especially in the first half, was a great threat on the wing and was my second place for MOM. My views on Ramage have change btw, he has been a beast recently and looks so much more assured. Helps too that he is appears to be our most emotively involved player in our cause. Great stuff to see.
