Indeed an exciting night - once again the Championship delivers a great season.

Watford should be looking for 6 points at home to Wednesday and Blackpool in the next few days imo.

Leeds at Leicester, I am reading Leicester are out of form?

I fancy a nibble on Leeds at 9/2. We are only 10/3 to win at Palace on Saturday so not sure whats up with tonight's game. No injuries so I would have thought Leeds should be 3/1 given Leicesters turmoil. Win lose or Draw having a few quid on an upset.

It's an interesting shout.

I think Leeds respective prices would be in line with my assessment of Palace and Leicester's ability.

But you're right. Eventually I have to accept that Leicester aren't as good as I think they are and Palace are better than I reckon.

9/2 definitely looks like a big price.

I agree.  At present I would say Leeds are more likely to win at Leicester than win at Palace.

I don't quite know what to make of the odds for the Palace game tonight. At 2.3 I had no interest in backing whatsoever, which it was a few days back but at 2.5 I am interested.

I wonder though the importance of the last game and their demolition of Birmingham with Boyd playing. The game before that, away from home, they were embarrassed early doors by Bolton and we notoriously get out of the gates quickly.

Just no idea really, but us at home at 2.5 is a little tough not to put a wager on. So I will be going on for £50 with Hills.

Completely being put off betting on sports now, which is a good thing, as I am coming to realise I really am a mug punter, but if there is an opportunity to back Palace with semi-decent logic, I will.

You are playing a better team & have several players out.

If I am betting on anyone here it's definitely Hull.

Of the players out only Danny Gabiddon would get into the starting line up. And I have already stated how much I am liking the Delaney Ramage Combo nowadays.

Bolasie and Zaha are going to be the main threats tonight, and Murray always rears his head at Selhurst rather than away from home with excellently placed tap ins, and insightful penalties.

Spending anything over £1m for a player in the championship these days is rare, would say Brighton have defo backed the manager there for sure. Not many teams have spent over £1m all season it seems, loans and freebies to get them off the wage bill seems standard these days.

I remember the glorious day when Watford bought Nathan Ellington for £4.5 million and gave him a massive 3.5 year contract.   A wonderful piece of business that was.

I've often wondered why Elton John hasn't become the owner of Watford.

He obviously loves the club, he must be worth hundreds of millions and he can't spend the loot once he's dead.

Why didn't he just acquire the club when it was in finicial difficulties?

Well he used to pour millions in Camel but I think he was very upset about general anti-gay sentiment in the 80s/90s at football and that killed his love for the game unfortunately.

Mmmmm     ....     Dung I take it you're young - because you really know very little about the 'Watford past'.

Elton became totally disillusioned back in the 80s when Watford Borough Council scuppered his plans for the club.

Before Hillsboro, before the Bradford fire, way before the Taylor Report    .....    Elton & GT had big plans for WFC.

A 36.5k all-seater football stadium, with an additional 9k all-seater arena (for concerts etc), hotel with Conference annexe, plus Leisure & shopping centres to be built @ Vicarage Rd & on the huge allotment area to the rear of the ground.

Basically it was so well planned that all the funding was to come from the leases etc granted to the commercial partners (who were already in place, and were to fund the entire development) - and WFC would get a new ground, new arena, and retain freehold on all other properties on the site     ....       proper free-rolling!

All they had to to was get the Council to flog, or donate, the land down the back of the Rookery   ....    simples - job done!

Well    ....     they hadn't taken into account having to deal with the 2nd most corrupt Council in the entire South East (the London Borough of Barnet held the undisputed crown at that time - and probably still does).

The Councillors (most of whom had to do a 'moonlight flit' several years after - the Council's accounts could not be verified for 7 years of their tenure, and the Auditor's refused to sign them off due to the theft that went on) promptly offered ONE acre only (out of 90, I believe) and refused to budge     ....      not their scheme - 'back-handers' were highly unlikely!

So the whole 'Watford Revolution' hit the buffers with an almighty thwack    ...    Graham Taylor phuqqed off within a year, and Elton flogged the club not so long after.

The same area has had 'Regeneration Proposals' - running to nearly half a billion squids - swirling around it for many years now, but the money's not there.

SEJ & GT were gonna 'regenerate' the shit-hole that is West Watford for 32 mill of someone else's dough 30 odd years ago.

Politicians at local level are just as crass, incompetent, and corrupt as their Westminster counterparts     ....

I am not going to multi quote, but still believe Palace have spent their way to get up there. If you think Glenn Murray is on the same money he was on at Brighton then you are in another world. He just doesn't up root leave another city for same money and similar prospects.

If you read my quote correctly i said that he was offered the same as Brighton were offering as he was out of contract, but obviously the signing on fee that palace could give him, plus the additional year on his contract swayed him.
Not sure where Murray lives but it is feasable that he never even had to move house.

Lives in Brighton.

Thought that was obvious, not even Palace fans can say

Croydon > Brighton Smiley

The two biggest divers in the champ on 8 yellows.

Would be funny if Murray and zaha don't play in the play offs because of that. Jedi one yellow away from a two match ban. Booked against hull and he will miss the brighton game.

I dont think you can miss the play-offs because of yellow cards.  I think there is a cut off point around the end of April.

All the stats pages i can find show Jedinak on 8 yellows the same as Murray and Zaha.

El-Abd is on 9 for your lot though!

99% sure you do miss play offs through suspension. El Abd isn't a problem with Greer, and Dunk in reserve, or even Calderon whose played CB a fair bit.

Jedi on 8 yellows. Damn!

Just back from the game. Another very dominant home performance after a shaky start.
Once jonny Williams got into the game we were so on top. Kevin Phillips signing was vindicated in 20 awesome minutes either side of half time.
Could even afford the luxury of Murray missing a penalty.
Got a bit sloppy defensively in the last 15 minutes but another job well done.

Disappointed in hull, thought they went long ball a lot in the first half and didnt look interested in chasing down the ball once they were 3 behind.

Oh and Anthony - no yellow cards for zaha, Murray or Jedinak :-)
