I imagine the one who makes Hearn the most dough gets in, and I doubt it's any more complex than that.

Only thing that amazed me about the line up is he didn't get Jimmy White in there.

They'll probably get an exhibition leg in somewhere!

On a separate note, has Ronnie been in the shit lately?

He was on Saturday Kitchen a few weeks back, and I couldn't work out how they managed to pull off that coup.

There is something very wrong about the one time Snooker wonder kid appearing on Saturday kitchen with his now greying sideburns.

Think he is the same age as me too.

Can't let that one get through Phil - Ronnie is only 39.

You'd be OK on the Handicaps though.

Booooo, I went to bed a happy man thinking I had got that through.

You were 25/1 to get that through, Phil.

As an aside, ref Ronnie & that cookery show thing, I gather that Ronnie is a big fan of cooking in real life, so to speak, so that may explain his appearance on that cooking Show. Not a hobby you'd expect him to have, but he's a complex character, as we know.

I can imagine he has cooked up a few decent joints in his time. Maybe even added his own herbs and shit too?

Stop it!

Did you enjoy seeing & listening to Barry Hearn on stage last night? (Rhetorical).

I always like listening to Barry, it helps to remind me how well someone can present himself to people when basically making more money than they are from their skill set.

I give you, from the man himself 'I had to get involved in TV poker when I found out the players put up the prize money themselves'

Do you remember that comp he filmed in a warehouse at Leyton Orient FC where we had a decent chunk of one of the players and Barry charged the 6 players for the dealers he had provided. Can you imagine turning up to DTD and being told it's 100plus5 entry fee and 50 quid for the dealers wages too?

Didn't it end up a 6 way chop coz after about 4 levels the chip leader had about 8 BB so they took their own money back less the dealers fee's and just played it out just to get a 'winner' for the TV. so Barry had a at TV poker episode he could charge ch5 or ch4 or some other  TV channel over the odds to show it.

Did he film 3 or 4 of them all in one day too?

I remember it vividly & quite painfully for all the wrong reasons.

I was staying at that hotel in London Colney that the England Football Team used to use as a "base".

Rhowena (Colclough) offered to drive us to Leyton Orient's ground, to save us taking 2 cars. Rhow was not exactly the world's greatest navigator, & it took us 3 hours, & we arrived an hour late.

Lol @ charging "Dealers Fee", but yeah, it's true.

IIRC, Barry was not there that day, but Eddie was.

Think they filmed 4 Episodes that day. Not sure, but I think Maria won one of them, a Ladies thing.

Maybe 2006?

I'm hoping you got the dough from the share we had and didn't return my bit with your own money?

I played one of those partypoker comps at Leyton Orient as well, and yeah, it was in 2006.

The 'World Open', filmed on location at Leyton Orient FC*

*in a storage room

I was living in Brentford at the time, and a mate of mine who was meant to play it phoned me that morning, and asked if I would take his place, as he had only just gotten home from a night out. I didn't have a clue where it was, but luckily I had satnav, and even I can follow that!

Eddie and Beiju were both there, but as you say, no sign of Barry. IIRC, the table was setup right out the back of the building, in a broom cupboard, and there was exposed brickwork everywhere etc.

AA bust by KK in level one (50p), but it was ok, because Eddie ordered pizzas for everyone in the 'green room', which was just the other area outside where they were filming Cheesy

Guess that one didn't go down too well, as the next one I played was at 3 Mills Lane studios, and they did have a proper green room, with snacks and everything.

Amazing that they managed to run them for so long!

He has commented in the past about how bad his eyes are. I don't think they are quite as bad as the article is making out mind you.

I'm hoping you got the dough from the share we had and didn't return my bit with your own money?

I can't even remember who we staked!

Was Mr C, do you still keep in touch with him?

No, not as such.

His exit from blonde made things a little tense between us for a while. He was struggling at the tables, & thought the blonde headaches were contributing to that. Anyway, he sold his Shares, & it was soon clear I had gone from the frying pan to the fire, but that's another story.

He also had those little problems with Rhowena. I was friends of both of them, & got caught between them a bit. Both were spying on the other, & wanted me to be their little spy, which of course was impossible.

I was working for you at Wm Hill at the time, & we used to do that TV Show, Poker 425 (?), & Rhow, myself, Compo, Billy the Cameraman, Clive Lawrence (who ended up doing Greyhound TV for Sky Sports),  & little Steve Meehan, the Producer, (great bloke Steve, loved his horse racing), used to go away most weekends to film TV Tourneys all over Europe, even Vegas. (Compo in Vegas would get a whole chapter if I ever penned a book).

So I was up to speed on Rhow's dalliances with you know who, & then Dave started asking me for the inside line.

An awkward spot, & so, for a while, both Rhow & Dave got the lip on with me as I was like Manuel in Fawlty Towers, I know nothing.

Next I heard, Dave had moved to the Philippines, & we lost touch, Rhow married a geezer from Southampton & I was left holding a blonde baby.

Fast forward to about 4 years ago, I bumped into Dave in Vegas. He was doing a Consultants role for Chiptych (sp?) who were trialling a "Live Update" system at the WSOP.

It was a bit frosty at first, as we first bumped into each other whilst standing at adjacent urinals, with our hands full, so a handshake was a bit awkward, especially as Dave was rather well-built.  We could hardly ignore each other, either. Anyway, we eventually concluded the (e)vac & shake, & started chatting, frostily & defensive at first, but soon we were cool & cuddly wuddly again.

We saw a good bit of each other after that, & again the next 2 years in Vegas, & we were like Fonzy.

He was not there last year, though, or not that I know.

Sorry 'bout the rambling reply, but you jogged a few memory things there.

Did Rhowena do (or still do) modelling?  I went to a workshop for my camera club a few weeks ago and someone did a little photograph presentation to music and I'm sure it was Rhow in it.  The photographer even called it Rhowena, but only her first name.  I couldn't ask him as sadly he died a year or so ago, someone else showed it as part of a project.
