Adams accepts a Grand Slam spot.

What's prompted that?

Seems like a huge change. Not as big as signing for the PDC, obviously, but that time has passed for both parties. Why join the Grand Slam now?

I'm guessing an expensive divorce and the fact he is now in his 60s with limited earning potential means he can't turn his nose up at free money anymore.

Watch this clip from the 1978 World Darts final (yes, yes, I know I've got too much time on my hands)

What is unusual about it?

Nah, the other guy went for the bull.

They both had 50 left?

John Lowe had 50 left with 3 darts in his hand.

And went straight for the bull?!?!?

In the World final!

Never seen that before, let alone in the biggest tournament of the year.

This Grand Prix is producing ridiculous results.

Taylor, Wade, Lewis, Wright and Chizzy all dumped out and we haven't finished round 2 yet.

Is this down to variance or the double to start format?

First round is a bit of a crapshoot with it being first to 2 sets, where one bad leg can literally cost you the match. The "double's in" format must also contribute.

The second round and beyond has enough sets to allow for a few bad legs so I would say the second round exits are more of a shock than the first round ones, despite the calibre of the respective casualties

Really really fancy Anderson for this. Especially with Wade and Taylor out of his half of the draw.

My ticket for the QFs on Thursday night looks a lot less enticing now - especially with Ireland v Germany on that night.

The lower ranked players have all played 2 or 3 floor events in the last week as well so they are tuned in a little possibly. Short in format in sets goes against Wade, Chizzy and a few others as well.

The format of this Grand Slam of Darts just lends itself to crooked matches.

Dennis Priestley suggested (well actually outright said) that Chris Mason stitched him up to make sure he didn't get through the group stage the last year he played it.
