Depends on how big the antes are.

I do quick calculations based on the size of the pot and convert it back to an adjusted big blind when there are antes in play. Simply divide the pot by 3 to get the small blind and therefore multiply by 2 to get the adjusted bb.

Then I go back to my base rule of more than 12 bigs, standard open. Less than 12 bigs shove.

Of course on occasions I do something slightly different. Like opening aces on a table who don't know my game and I haven't been consistently shoving recently.

M

[  ] M

Why wouldn't you use M here, if you're M is 6 or under you shove, or have I missed something?

When you write one letter as a response, you should perhaps expect some misinterpretation.

I thought you were trying to say Longy was long windedly describing 'M', when he of course isn't.

You can use M if you want but adjusted big blinds is way easier to work out on the fly.

And it's your btw.

I think you can switch between shove and r/c depending on how the blinds are likely to play vs you...

For instance if the blinds are passive and very likely to just call preflop then I am more likely to open shove but if there are people who are a bit more aggressive there then I will take the r/c line as peoples reship ranges tend to be a bit wider than their calling off range and you give them the false illusion of some fold equity. You will occasionally get some gross flops but even on alot of those flops your still likely to be good more often than not anyway as most broadway type hands are quite likely to reship you pre anyway.

Oh and 88 was calling your shove unless he is terribad...

Assuming no antes I standard open and obviously get it in post on the vast majority of boards. I am probably shoving less than 12bbs though.

With antes I would shove as part of a general strategy.

+1

as standard i would be shoving here with antes and probably shoving without.

you can always adjust your play based on the table.... ie if you have a loose passive fish who is peeling 100% pre and c/f lots of flops then ofc its in your interest to 3x and then cbet a lot of fllops

At low stakes just play exploitably. Jam hands which don't flop well AJo, 88 for instance, to avoid fish just flicking it in and raise premiums.

He logged into blonde just a few days ago, so I guess he's OK.

Smashing bloke, & a credit to poker, always thought he conducted himself very well. Used his poker earnings well, too, travelling the world to watch big sporting events. Saw him last year at a baseball game - ball game - in Vegas.

Hi, shows how far behind I am on blonde. Just decided to look at my replies to topics I posted in and found this.

Yeah not been about much, quit poker about a year ago, eventually the curve caught up with me and the online games were just miserable. Had a good run, but it has been eye opening trying to get back in the real world. Moving down to London with the other half in a couple of months, so all change.
