I was updating an event at Caesars Palace in Vegas and Gordon was playing. I called him Gordon Hammay all weekend, by accident, since when everyone has referred to him as "Hamster"

Gordon isn't exactly grateful for this. Beware the power of the live updater's pen....

Career in producing audiobooks of John Buchan novels on hold then?

Not a chipleader, but the best smile in the room (Unless you count Mitch when his burger is delivered)

Entry closed today (thankfully) with 265 runners

That is quite a turnout

Estimates for tomorrow then, are?

Kinboshi Phillips opens and is re-raised in the next seat by Romano Pizzo

In the big blind Richard Perry flats the 3 bets

Phillips shoves for 35,000

Pizzo thinks and reluctantly folds

Perry thinks and thinks, playing a virtually identical strack to Phillips and passed Q-Q

Good fold I imagine!

Was for me!

(Also, I hadn't opened - I'd called Perry's initial raise)

Some days you just wonder. You parambulate the room, tier by tier. Stop by a few tables. Chew the cud witha  few people

Your notebook is poised, your pen a quiver.

Can I find a hand to report on? Not a thing.

I stood a while by table Ian Gascoigne and Tom High. Seemed a reasonable bet. One a big recent winner at DTD. The other Tom High

The best I got (Having been promised by Gascoigne senior that I could play a hand with him) was

Tom High raising to 1600 pre and being called by Ron Musson from Blackpool way on the button

two spades

High leads for 2,100. Musson calls

check check

As check check

Musson shows which as good when High mucks

Gazza senior of course, folded....Qs8s to the opening raise

As we hit the third level of the day after 8 levels

Alec Tindal limps

Neil Giblin raises

Tindall calls

  three diamonds is checked

  turn

Tindal open shoves 20,000 into a 5,000 pot

Playing slightly more, Giblin calls with

Tindal

river  to double Tindal up

---

Same orbit

On a board showing

Tindal shoves his 40,000 into 8,000 from the big blind

Kev Smith on the button faces a tough one with  and folds, to be shown

Justin Devonport the new chip leader, with around 200,000

156 left after 8 levels, blinds going 500-1000, average 55,000

He has K-K on the button

Andrew Taylor J-J in the small blind

Both stacks, both above average, are in pre-flop

Both river a flush in spades, and Devonport's higher flush takes him to the head of affairs
