I was getting excited about this. My mate went into day 2 lying 8th in chips after bamboozling some of the best players in the world, including George Lind and Mickey Peterson (sp). Someone even slagged him off in the blog Smiley

Unfortunately my mate never made day 3

The guy who got upset was Eric Crain. Mickey was the unfortunate victim of my mates runner runner str8 Sad

George Clyde-Smith qualified for just $10 from those qualifiers on stars that had 16,000 people and 10 seats. Pretty sick returns if he makes the money.

Just eight players are left chasing the $1,859,000 first prize at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event with Jerry Wong leading the way.

The American finance graduate returns with 7.4m chips, a chunk of change ahead of Joel Micka who has 6,475,000. Andrey Shatilov is next on 3,220,000 followed by multiple WSOP finalist Owen Crowe on 2,990,000.

A Moneymaker-esque miracle remains on the cards in the form of Joao Nogueira who lies in fifth with 2,890,000. The Portuguese player qualified online for just $10 and is well placed to earn a life changing amount of money.

Rounding out the final table are Yann Dion 2,535,000, EPT San Remo runner up Dimitar Danchev 1,995,000 and WPT Montreal winner Jonathan Roy 1,525,000.

The action resumes at 5pm UK time with blinds at 30,000/60,000 with a 5,000 ante. The final eight are guaranteed a pay day of at least $165,000 but will have eyes on much more.

George Clyde Smith was the top Brit, 11th for $95,000

After a long battle in the sun, this year’s PCA Main Event is finally over. Having welcomed 987 players from around the world, the hugely popular festival could only watch as Bulgaria’s Dimitar Danchev lifted the winner’s trophy.
Having come close to success at a PokerStars sponsored event in the past – most notably at 2011’s EPT San Remo – Danchev wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip away without a fight.

Indeed, having started the finale as the second shortest stack, Danchev dug deep and worked with his meagre offerings to move into contention half way through the day.

After watching the likes of Owen Crowe and former chip leader Jerry Wong hit the rail, it was only Joel Micka who stood in Danchev’s way.

A brief tussle ensued but it was Danchev who enjoyed a run of positive variance, winning two coin flips to scoop the remainder of Micka’s chips and claim the $1,859,000 first place prize.

A hat tip too to eighth place finisher Joao Nogueira who qualified online for just $1.10 but walked away with $165,000.

PCA Main Event Final Standings

1st Dimitar Danchev $1,859,000
2nd Joel Micka $1,190,000
3rd Jerry Wong $725,000
4th Jonathan Roy $560,000
5th Owen Crowe $435,000
6th Andrew Shatilov $325,000
7th Yann Dion $230,000
8th Joao Nogueira $165,000
