I had a dural puncture once, so can appreciate what you're going through. Not pleasant at all. I assume the painkillers are to prevent the headache? If you get a headache tell someone. Take it easy and get well soon x
Yeah it's the main symptom, had the worst headache of my life since Thursday afternoon

oh I really feel for you. For anyone who doesn't know the headache is due to spinal fluid leaking from the dural tear. If enough fluid leaks out then it effects the fluid pressure around the brain and spine creating the spinal headache. I was on morphine after having a caesarean and when i came off the morphine drip the headache developed. Over the next 48 hours I truly believed I was going to die. They took me back to theatre and performed a blood patch & within hours the headache was gone. My puncture was caused by my anaethetist being an incompetent t**t but her boss fixed me (eventually!). They knew where the puncture was and it was suitable for a blood patch which effectively seals the puncture and stops the spinal fluid leaking out. I'm not sure if a tear would be suitable for this? As a minimum ask for morphine, complete bed rest (not that you can even lift your head from the pillow anyway) & lots of sleep.

For those concerned, as several on this thread are, Flushy remains hospitalised, but there is a chance he may be well enough to be released today.
The pain is now much reduced, for which he says he is "beyond grateful".
It was an extremely serious thing, so a relief that he is on the mend.
He said that from his hossie bed he can see the Houses of Parliament, & it has re-ignited his passion for Architecture. Who'd have thought?
GWS, James.
