the wife's ex-husband is using my address.....advice please chaps

ok, some very folks here on this forum, both male and female, and i'm hoping that someone can give me a stear in the right direction with my problem, whish is as follows:

my wife and i live at an address, where we have been for about 5 years now, as a couple, then a married couple, with her 3 kids, my step kids

the wife's ex, got her into lots of bad credit issues etc, is using our address and phone number for various things, and i have been led to believe, is also, along with his new wife, registered as living at my address.

i receive frequent phone calls asking for him by name, even though we are ex-directory, and i always answer the phone, if its for him, by imediately asking how much he owes them, as he has not lived at this phone number for almost 8 years and owes me personally about 15k. If nothing else, by doing that i'm stopping him getting any job offers from the recruiters that have called for him.

obviously with all callers i ask who they are, what they want, tell them it isnt his address etc etc, and ask them to remove the number from their database, but we still get 3-4 calls a week from various job agencies, credit firms, PPI companies etc all for him.

so, back to the question, how do i get him off the register for my property/check if it has been done???

Is he currently giving companies the phone number & address or is this a hangover from when he lived there (I assume you moved into his house)?

Call council and get him off electoral roll (assuming he is on it)

Any post - open and advise people he doesnt live at address

Change your telephone number if it isnt hugley inconvenient

When people call, insist they remove your number from their system, they cannot make unsolicited calls - and if you know them, provide his current contact details!

Call him, once, "politely" tell him all the names of people who have contacted you and tell him to advise them of new details

they used to love together at number 12, when he left he advised through his solicitor that he wouldnt be paying maintenence, but would pay the mortgage so his children had somewhere to live, which seemed very reasonable to us

4 months later the mortgage company got in touch and informed my missus that they hadnt had a payment for 5 months and were starting reposession etc

missus managed to sell the house to the attached neighbours who have knocked thru, and turned it into a big number 13, and now number 12 no longer exists

my missus then moved down the road to number 21, but kept the phone number

i'm feeding/clothing/bringing up his kids, he is 15k in arears, the CSA suck ass, hence he owes me the 15k as his kids havent done without, but i'm still renting, that 15k would look nice on a house deposit!!!

the new, bigger, improved number 13 were getting dodgy mail for him, but havent had anything for a couple of years now

we are going to look into changing phone numbers but are with sky, so not sure where we stand there, i'll ring them and drop tikay's name, might get a discount!

i'll have another word with my source and try get some more firm info on where this man(term used loosely) is registered etc
 
and lee, i'm much more fond of the deepfreeze and woodchipper technique than the minigun, i always hated cleaning my rifle in the MOB, now i'm a civi i'll stick to fishing gear and golf clubs

after working for sky its not that easy to change your number sadly :/ but you can always call up and start proceedings to get it done. They need all sorts of reasoning if its done correctly. You may get lucky and get through to somebody who "has the power" to do it but unlikely. In regards to your credit record he shouldnt really affect you. The tie is your house but it will still be in his name and dob therefore there is no link to you not even as an associate. BUT for safety i would recommend looking at your credit reports online to see if there is any instances where his mis domineers have been registered under your name. If they have you need to contact the agencies to get it changed. As soon as you have this notice of correction, you cannot get refused credit due to it. More than likely it may be a bit of a hassle when applying for things as the under witters will have to review the notice of correction but once it is reviewed then you should be clear.

I would try and get a forwarding address and contact details for him. And pass them on to any body that asks. Mabye set up a forwarding address for any post to his new property? dont know if you can do this or he has to do it.

Have you joined the TPS? Telephone preference service. It's free and online. Should stop UK based telesales shite.

Any mail just keep and every month get a bundle and write "not at this address" in marker pen and shove em in a post box.

Tried speaking to him in a grown up way, didnt work

Remember we are talking about a man who had no issues whatsoever with his kids being ejected from their home because he didnt want to pay the mortgage, and insisted he was paying it even when the paperwork was put under his nose.

He also has;

Promised his kids a Wii when the first came out for Xmas, on xmas day told them it didnt work so he sent it for repair.  18 months later his kids met his "new" girlfriend, and strangely her 2 kids had an 18 month old Wii.

Said he could not afford his maintenance payments, then his mum let it slip he was on another 2 week holiday to st Lucia.

When asked by his ex wife where the cheque was to pay for the washing machine so his kids could have their clothes washed, replied with "I've sent it last week, you can ask John"(who the **** is John?)

The list goes on.  But basically he is not a nice chap, but after the threat of a custodial sentence he has made a few maint payments, so me wiping him up and down the road wouldnt do our family any good.

Anyway as said. I'm going to get some more firm info on how he is registered at this address and go from rhere. Will also look into that phone TPS thing
