Regrettably respective calendars have gotten the better of us.

The poker 'trip' is still happening though....to the DTD February deepstack! Vbol out in Deauville Al, have a bite at Pizzeria Busto for us.

Yes I am afraid all we can muster for an adventure is the Nottingham Deepstack. We may however report on the event in similar style. As a 'dad' it will just be good to have Ed up for a couple of nights as long as I don't have to sit on the same table as him.

Not really sure about whether it's of interest updating the diary. I mean it's not Prague,Deauville,Galway and the like. But it is something to do whilst sat in  Sam's Room of Doom at DTD watching Wales v England from Cardiff before the fireworks begin in here.
Ed is in the Deepstack where he has got off to his customary excellent start. I suspect he will bust by 9pm 5 betting with A5. 'I think I could get him to fold but he had KK' is the usual outcome of these episodes. It really is good to see him and hopeful we will manage to squeeze a visit to Hillsborough tomorrow to say goodbye to Milan and welcome the new owners. 'Wednesday 'till I Thai' being the new anthem for the faithful of Sheffield 6.
It's been a while since we had a Friday VIP game and hopefully this one will be a good one. It got a bit wild before Christmas and to be frank it was hard to work out how to play when it straddles to £160 and a raise just makes everyone call. It became a 'hit and hold' game and expensive at that. Forget any concept of pot control.
Having said that the last couple of games where calmer with some more 'sophisticated play' which didn't suit my game at all.
So there we are,I will encourage Ed to update at his next break complete with hand histories and the like.

Yes Ed! He does always seem to run into big hands when 5 or 6 bets go in...

Loved the line about sophisticated plays not suiting your style! I think you'd hav enjoyed them here in deauville! You would've done better than I did no doubt!

It's uncanny, isn't it - almost as though there's a correlation but I can't be sure so I won't be changing tack just yet.

Just hero'ed a chap with, ironically enough, A5o in a 3bet pot, and was good. It's things like that that keep us fish alive and interested.

c125k on the break. Would imagine i will run this to about 180k before blowing them at 11:19pm.

If I were a betting man, of course.

I nearly posted I'll take the under, tap ins arent my style though. More bullets being fired, or are you joining the big boys Ed?

Don't think I'm invited, also after a 530am start a late night massive game probably wouldn't be wise. The value on the table in Skalie's game did just go up though...

Right we are both back at Chez Moi. Ed donated half a bag on Skallies game which was exactly what I was up in the VIP so an enjoyable evening and broke even. I was down 4.2k at one stage so to finish +£500 was a remarkable run good which started by hitting a gunshot on a big 'end of night bluff' followed by another lucky double up with my pocket fours. Detail tomorrow on how I extracted the absolute maximum value on three streets with my well disguised set. Not like me,they usually overtake by the river. It was a very enjoyable evening played in a great atmosphere and with plenty of banter. It's a big high variance game but with no one really out to mug you. Like a home game really.

Through to day 2 with 247k.

Ran hotter than the sun to reach a high of 370k, then a couple of mediocre spots saw me dribble to 247k, failing to win a pot of remark for the last couple of levels.

Looking forward to tomorrow, though already realising a 330pm restart in NOTTINGHAM probably isn't great news for a chap who lives in SURREY and has a 8am meeting in LONDON on Monday. Better go up the gears from my usual tight game to accelerate to victory before it's too late in the evening.
