Well done Edward.Hope one or two Blondes enter because its basically free money. Obviously the poker is a bit of a long shot but Ed is pretty hot on a Place Pot and Sunday at Leapardstown should provide a banker of some kind of return. He tells me the trip to the races is part of his on site research for Cheltenham week.Lots of inside information on the strength of the Irish runners blah blah blah......So please give the quiz a go and win some free money.
Having said all that feeling pretty exhausted personally.Had a big week at work last week, have a big couple of days this week and the weekend involved a lot of poker at DTD. No deep run in the two comps I entered. Never got going in the Main and played poorly. Pleased with my play in the 6 Max but went out with 20 minutes to go at the end of day one. Taking the positives I took out a few really strong learning points particularly by observing some of the top players who were on show during the Sky Event. Spending 10 hours on a table in a 6 Max with a long clock really gives you the opportunity to observe every player, every nuance and their approach to position, aggression and decision making. It was fantastic to see DTD buzzing and the atmosphere was brilliant. A great result and a big well done to Tikay and Rob and Simon and all the support staff at Sky and DTD. And what can you say about Tighty? Just great updates, observations and humour.
So on to the plans for the weekend. Ed is flying out from Gatwick on Thursday evening and same for me only from East Midlands. I have the pleasure of the Ryan Air experience which itself is a fascinating business. The power of price over every other type of customer experience..........How long can it last?
We are going to play the Main and if we bust then also the High Roller.Ed doesn't know it yet but having built up a biscuit tin of red and yellow bags ( red birds, yellow birds) thought we should reinvest in these comps. That's how I manage my poker bank roll these days. I used to subsidise my play with frequent cash withdrawals but its been some time since I have had to do that so for Poker I just use the funny money that comes wrapped in red plastic usually on a Friday night ( lol ).
We are self catering in a two bedroom apartment which is so much better than a hotel. 4 nights gives plenty of time for Poker, relaxing and taking in the sites and sounds of Dublin. I like Dublin, the people and the Guinness.I like the attitude the Irish have to a game of Poker and I like the social nature of the table dynamics. There's been a lot said recently about 'old 'uns' and ' young 'uns' and contrasting styles etc. I am not sure there is any difference really. You just don't want to spend hours at a table with people who are rude, boorish or who slow the game down through a lack of attention. I don't care if they are young or old. I have made some good friendships with players half my age and its been good for me. I have also met some really interesting guys my own age who have had the benefit of a long and rich life very different from my own. Everyone has a story to tell if you open your mind. It's just the rude I find the hardest to take.
Right that's all for now. Just discovered that Wednesday v Charlton is live on Radio 5 Extra which has made the evening holed up in London a lot more bearable. Find it hard to believe it was 21 years ago that we played United in the first Semi Final that was played at Wembley. I will dig out the programme and post a couple of pictures, just for the odd Sheffield United fans who may be following. It was a great day wasn't it :-)
We had a lot of fun on the last two 'trips' an empty handed Deauville and an epic encounter in Galway. Lets hope this one is as good. Love and Rockets.

Took me a while to remember the answer to question ten.
Have since been giggling to myself about it.
Bonnes vacances!

Just done some very rough calculations and if the trip is as successful that 1.67% could be as much as £200!
Think we have to clarify it will be winnings net of buy ins!

Dwayne110 and Tighty are in, bringing us to 8 entrants.
Tal has PM'ed a sequence of answers that, whilst largely (entirely) incorrect had me llol'ing (not a typo, or Welsh - rather 'literally laughing out louding') that also 'earn' him to a share, bringing us to 9. I promise to post them in due course, they are stunning.

My First Car/Ode to H 5WFC - aka Luuuuupo - aka Luups - aka 'The PostBox'
In April, the spring, of two thousand three,
A rush of excitement o'ercame me,
For at my next birthday I'd turn seventeen,
And fulfil til then but a childhood dream.
Petrified that I'd prang his snazzy motor,
Father opened Autotrader and showed me a foto,
Of a '99 Lupo in Royal Mail red,
In which I expected I'd ne'er fit my head.
Took it for a 'test drive', no idea what he was doing,
But the 16v 1-4? She was positively cooing.
"We'll take it!" said father, turning left at the station,
Completely forgetting the concept of negotiation.
I thanked mum and dad, without knowing the significance,
Of the car that marked the start, of my independence.
To be continued. Artistic licence prevalent.
If someone could post up a pic of a '99 red VW Lupo for 'colour' that would be v. helpful - I am on move and can't figure it out (fish!).

The questions are WAY too hard for me, so I can't enter, but I hope the trip goes well, & you get the lot.
Well done in cashing in the UKPC 6-Max, too. Tough field, that.
