I have an i-Pad, not sure what spec, but I have had it for nearly 2 years. It is NOT 3G enabled.

I have previously been able to get stuff like "SKY GO" without a problem, until two weeks ago.

I now get a Message saying, something like, "you need to upgrade to allow the latest features" bla bla bla.

When I try to install the latest App Update, I get this message.....

UPDATE REQUIRED

This app requires iOS 5.1

How do I get, or do that, please?

Im surprised your settings tab doesnt have a little "1" next to it telling you thta its time for an update of software.

If its an older i-pad, plug it in to your computer and do a standard backup and update, your laptop/PC should ask do you want to update software, say "yes" - give yourself and hour or 2!

Thanks Guy.

It does, but it does not tell me how to Update it.

When you say "plug it into my computer"......how, where, with what? It has no cables that I know of (I still have the original box, so they may be in there).

What do I do if I find the cables? Plug it in & then what?

Settings->General->Software Update

Thanks.

I can find "Settings" & "General", but I cannot see "Software Update" anywhere.

I assume you have a charger thatcame with it? The cable that leads into the plug head has a USB port on the end when you unplug it from the plug head.

Take that out, stick it into your PC with the other end attached to your I pad

When I said leave it an hour, maybe given yourslef  a few hours as this update could take a while!

Oh, I see now - wow, that seems simple enough, thank you.

And that is it - just plug the USB pluggy thing into the USB hole thing on my PC, & do nothing else?

I have never Updated it before.

I take it that you've never connected it to you PC then?
Have you got iTunes on your PC? If not you will need to download and install that first.

No, I've never connected it to my PC before.

ITunes on my PC? Highly unlikely, I would think, I never use ITunes. I think I had to sign up to it on my Ippy when I first got it, I can't remember why, but it was mandatory I think.

Guy never mentioned I needed ITunes?

to be honest, it literally is it. You neednt even open I tunes, it will do it for you!

It is quite a slow process, so be patient with screens opening and things. You will need to stay with the process clicking various options, but when the i pad screen goes black, with a little silver updating bar on it, you could squueze in your afternoon nap at that point  Wink

On my Ippy, yes, on my PC, no.

I'm a little confused - your previous Post said....

You neednt even open I tunes, it will do it for you!

So now I have to download ITunes on my PC?

God, this is so bloody complicated.
