I
I watched a decent bit amount of it last night and really enjoyed it. Maybe it helps knowing the players etc, but for a first attempt it was pretty good.
Ed was great on commentary, we were saying how if you didnt know who he was, you would presume hes done it hundreds of times. Very clear, keeps the conversation going and worked well setting Rasta up for some comments, which were always entertaining, if not a little odd sometimes.
After these left there was a bit of a lul, and as everyone else has said, there werent as many big hand confrontations as you may expect, and there were obviously a few players who were playing a bit tighter than usual. Thats no blame on their part, it was getting a big game towards the end.
Looking forward to being involved next time, and suggesting a few things that could could be tweaked a little bit to make it a better view. Not sure how many people they were expecting to watch, but saw there were ~100 viewing most of the time, which i expect is pretty good for a first try.
I saw the valets come round with chocolate eclairs. In.

Lol
Tom did say that he would like to host a blonde forum members live stream which could be more entertaining for the guys here. There first person I suggested be thrown in the mix would be Dreenie. Her giving out advice to people if she suffers a bad beat would be comedy gold.

My thoughts on the game:
It played like a standard cash game, it wasn't nitty at all, I mean yes Sean probably played on the tight side because it was a big shot for him, but trust me, if it was edited into a one hour show no-one would complain it was too nitty.
This is a new thing - a live streamed cash game - and nobody is used to watching unedited footage, it's just totally standard that you'll get periods of play where everyone gets dealt 94o or everybody misses flops, or no hand vs hand situations for long periods of time. You don't notice it so much when you're playing, but when you're watching I can imagine it's pretty dull.
Another thing - I knew there'd be these general comments "it was so nitty", but if you actually watch it back and see the hands that were being dealt, there's not a single hand that I folded where I felt "that's a bit nitty", I mean I folded like QJo utg+1 a couple of times - but if people actually watch the hands, I mean I can't speak for anyone else, but there's no hand I played different because it was a big game, or because of the stream.
Table banter - it was excellent all night, and we were told the mics were up on the table so people could here - I take it that didn't happen - shame because I was putting in an effort on that front because although I'm never going to play up for the cameras by piling in thousands with 72o, I still wanna make the stream fun for people so if the cards weren't doing much, then that's one way to entertain people. I was also going round the club trying to find commentators because without commentators, the stream would die (unless Rob showed up) and I didn't actually want that to happen. So for next time, defo get the mics working better / mic us up, because there was some hilarious table banter (highlight being Gascoigne rinsing Rob about his phone).
Lineup - OK it didn't have huge characters like Rastafish and it was a shame Rob wasn't there for all of it, but I don't believe there's actually many players around who'll sit with a few grand and just splash about to entertain the viewers. I mean we struggle to get any sort of £2/5 game going at DTD at the moment, so getting a full table of jokers all with a few grand just isn't going to happen - if it was, I'd be making it happen every friday night trust me! You'll get a £1/1 or maybe £1/2 game where you can get a few characters to sit and entertain everyone and splash around - but then everyone would complain that the game was too small. You can't please all of the people all of the time etc etc...
About the comments about why would a pro play in this game and give away all this information-
Quote
Tom Walster limps £5, Richard Berridge raises £50, Alex Goulder reraises £160, fold, Berridge calls
Berridge bets £125, Goulder raises £325, Berride raises £1200, Goulder allin £2750, Berridge calls
Goulder
Berridge
Yeh, I agree. Really annoying to give that information away to the public. Will give it a miss next time.

Hello!
It was a fun game, IDK if you could hear the table talk but it was really hilarious and the game WAS lively.
As for a spectacle to watch I was well aware it wouldn't be amazing viewing, a few natural problems arised, firstly for a LONG time (maybe as long as 5 hours) me and Walster were the only losers, obviously I'm not going to steam off and Tom potentially could have done but kept his head impressively well so everyone is playing cagier because they are winning. We had no help for the action from the cards, no big hands colliding, I know that for the last 4 hours I was incredibly card-dead, and no sick coups to get big pots/people steaming and active.
Berridge lost that big pot to alex so that could have gotten it going but then he won a big pot off me the very next hand to settle himself down, people say they want action but its a deepstacked NLHE game, the cards are always going to rule the action, I think I had about 5 decent squeeze opportunities all game pre-flop and took about 4 of them, as much as I'd like to I reallly can't squeeze a berridge open with J4o cos i'm setting my money on fire.
I think I was defo the most active player behind Berridge (who was in every pot) I was playing pretty lose pre-flop, straddling every hand but I didn't make any super bluffs or anything because the spots were never there, nlhe cash games are like that, if the action's dry you just slog it out, I raised berridge on a few flops and got 3bet or called and beaten nearly every time, floated skalie and bet a turn ran into quads, squeezed Rob and Berridge pre-flop twice with KQo and J8s and Rob made it £25,000 to play both times afterwards.
Whoever commented about the AQ hand alex folded is being stupidly results orientated, if I'd have had KK then you'd be saying wow good pass Alex, we're playing £2.5k effective and he is OOP with a pretty face up hand, what's he sposed to do, in a tourney he prolly wouldn't have been able to pass that hand, but it's a cash game - the spot isn't right so fold and move on - that's how these games play.
Obviously the game livened up when Rob sat down, but rob played every hand and put a few people all in, that was obviously going to liven it up - like Ian says even Rob couldn't have played at that level of intensity for 1hr+ when he quit, berridge quits too and it's just me and 5 players left all of whom are winning - so was destined to die from that point, nothing to do specifically with rob.
I agree the omaha one will be good! Hopefully am asked to play!

I had this open on the side and I enjoyed it. Rasta and Ed were entertaining, though when they went, the commentary wasn't so good. Always going to be snipers. It really wasn't a tight game, or even close, but guess it could appear so if you are used to playing $2 tournaments.
Cheers
The thing about the commentary is its not a professional production, it's just a couple of local lads throwing their hat in the ring. I think considering that they did pretty well, people need to realise that and cut them some slack. If people are expecting DTD to employ professional commentators then that ain't going to happen.

I'm loving the fact that some people watched it for 2,3 or 4 hours on a Friday night, then comment it wasn't very good.

Watched a little last night, thought Ed was absolute gold in the commentary booth, game was a little slow most probably due tothe fact I'm used to watching a full nights poker edited down into an hour. Overall good effort...

fwiw the deeper the stpr is the more boring/passive the game is going to be as they aren't 21 year old whizzkids 2x potting the turn etc, its lots of limping etc.
Should lower the cap of the buy in so we see more all ins and gambling to get deeper.

Alex, is it your conviction that the only information available from watching a live stream is that you raised with kings? Or that people get their money in when the deck is cold? I mean if I played against you and this Berridge dude every week I would see two people with nut hands. I would then study if there are any subtle changes in body language, bet timing/sizing, speech play or whatever compared with your medium strength hands compared to your weak hands. I would also study what range of hands each player has in a variety of spots. Of course every player will always maintain they have zero tells and play every hand identical whether they are weak or strong and play totally different every time they sit down because that is what poker players are like.
There is no need for people to get defensive when a reasonable point is made. I think it's a reasonable question to ask why would a pro give such info away and what was the motivation to make it fun for people. Your answer is saying there is nothing worth picking up from watching behaviour in relation to cards at the table. If that is true what is the skill of live poker? Think you fellas are giving a lot away to promote the poker club and are getting little to nothing out of it, even getting stung for rake along the way. If this format continues I think you players could rightly demand no rake and comp food/drink at the very least. Think people asking what is the benefit is just an ok normal question.

Also people might want to come and have some fun playing with a local pro having a splash and maybe beating him out of a pot or two.

Yes it was a reasonable question, but my point (that I put in a rather silly way I admit) was that I believe that the value gained from playing in a game like that is going to be greater than the value of the information I'll give away.
Also, if I believe that I'm playing against someone shrewd enough to have studied all that for tells / betting patterns, then I'll probably be playing pretty balanced vs them anyway just as a default. So it doesn't matter that they've seen me make an unbalanced turn betsize or whatever vs someone else, because I will be playing different vs them.
I mean I could be wrong, and maybe there's people sitting in my cash games every week just ripping me apart because they've followed all the live streams and read every HH I post on blonde, but I haven't noticed it yet, and actually I think it works in my favour, because make bad adjustments vs a well known face, or someone they know is a pro / has had success or whatever, and it actually makes it easier.
Overall I actually think it's good for us too, and we did get free food and drink (and chocolate eclairs handed round and the end of the night
) and the exposure is great too - at the end of the day, we're egotistical, and love being on TV and people watching us
