Defo declare it. I took $9,999 last year as couldn't be arsed filling the form out.

Got a 30 minute lecture on the way in, which led to a whole host of questions and a visit to the customs guy.

He was sound and didn't really even count it.

The first guy said I'd better be certain I had less than 10k, or they'd take the lot off me.

Was bricking it, and chucked loose change away in case they counted that.

Don't give to your wife either, as it's 10k between you.

I don't get it, it's not illegal to have cash you just have to tell them.

bank statement + declaration + allowance for a little delay = easy.

if you don't declare and actually do some run bad, then it'll be tonnes of hassle and potentially rubber glove treatment.

havent got a statement tho, brought the cash back from vegas last year and just kept in as cash.....

Don't tell them that unless you declared it on the way out last year!

Dont think you need to declare it on the way out

Where exactly did you "chuck the loose change"?

I'm only asking because I once tried the same thing with a 35mm plastic film container full of primo Columbian gold buds, throwing it in a convenient ash-tray when I knew I was about to get searched only to have some smart-arse pick it up behind me and hand it to the customs guys.

I lived on and off for 6 years in LA... customs at LAX can kinda come across abit arsey... DEFINATLY DEFINATLY bring as much info about how you intend to use the money while your there.... they shouldn't be too hard on you bringing cash into the country, its leaving with more that they would rather you not do.

Print off your Hendon mob page, the tournament details, bank statements and some kind of proof that you are playing these tournaments and not going to buy 20KG of cocaine and you should be fine!

If you get a problem, just give Will Smith a text

Toby did you declare when you left Vegas that you had all this cash? If not DO NOT tell them you brought it back from Vegas.

If you are leaving the USA with over $10,000 in cash then you definitely have to declare it on the way out of the USA AND when entering the UK.  If you arrive in the USA and declare over $10,000 on entry and tell them that it's cash you left the USA with last year they will check their records to see if you declared it on the way out last year.  If you didn't declare it then they can put you in jail!

Declare it AINEC.  On the way out and on the way back.

Some sort of documentation as to why you legitimately have it.  HendonMob etc and a bank statement.

There's no downside to declaring it, it takes a few minutes.  There's lots of downside to not declaring it, and it will take a lot longer than a few minutes.

Wait a minute saying AINEC. There could be some mileage in this situation if Toby gets banged up for a few weeks. The diaries on blonde are becoming a bit same same and this could be an excellent opportunity.

Also as he walks through telling customs the drugs are up is bum would also provide for an amusing trip report. Smiley

I left with like $32k in cash last summer in my pockets/laptop bag.  Obv it went through the x-ray machines and stuff and nobody said anything.  I wouldve declared it but nobody asked me and I wasnt given the form asking how much I had on the way out so I just figured didnt need to declare on the way out.  I was given one of the forms on the way in.

Security clearance is difference from HM Customs. I understand you fill form in and put it a box as you go through "anything to declare" in UK. Always best to do the legit thing as it s pretty straightforward.

Available for cash carrying duties if you need to split it up, Toby. I need 4 hours notice though, to pack and get to the airport. Smiley
