Bubble Debate.
«

227 runners at Luton at the weekend. 23 left. 22 get paid.
Someone suggests £10 each from everyone left, to pay the bubble. 22nd got 230/240. I'm not exactly sure.
One person objects. No deal.
Then someone says they will pay the tenner for the objector. Most people agree and start getting their tenners out.
Random guy in another comp shouts over, you can't do that. Gets shot down in flames from some others, who aren't in the comp either.
Debate goes on for about ten minutes, with the end up line being, lets agree to disagree.
Bubble burst about 30 mins later, and it seems the bubble is collecting some money from others at the table, but not everyone.
Thoughts on what should happen in this situation?

All have to agree imo, its not just about the tenner, it changes the game too for the bubble.

This happened when I was playing a WPTn sat in Dublin in january.
Bubble of sat, 17 players, 16 seats + 850 euros for 17th. Talk of everyone putting up 45 euros to make 17 seats. 3 times in 15 mins there was 1 objector (may or may not have been me) so they decided to take that 1 person out of the equation by putting in 16x50 to make up the seat. Staff didnt want to be involved with it at first but ended up agreeing. They gave everyone and envelope to put 50 euros in, and if you put money in you had to write you name on the inside too (incase it had to be refunded).
It is a slightly different situation since in the sat play immediately stopped and the tourney was over but play will continue in the tourney and taking the objector out of it will change how the game plays.

This is 100% different.
I always say no to paying the bubble in a regular tournament, because it changes the way the game is played.
This makes everyone gets the same prize, what is wrong with that?

agree with this. If I'm CL on the bubble and bashing it up, no way I should be forced for the bubble to burst because someone's chucked in a tenner on my behalf, abs farcical suggestion.
the satellite situation is obv 100% different.

How does a bubble deal change the game dynamic so significantly for the worse for the chip leaders?
If the short stacks are hanging on to min cash, surely the blind increases will make the game more shovey for everyone?
If the short stacks are happy to shove lighter because there is a bubble deal, the big stacks are likely to be the beneficiaries anyway.
As a recreational player it doesn't generally bother me either way but I just feel it is a nice gesture in the spirit of the game when the short stacks have grinded for 6 or 7 hours in a £40 comp.

Big stacks put pressure on the medium stacks as well as the short stacks, therefore increasing their chances of winning tourney, so the longer the bubble goes on the better for big stack.
