http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-28937610

Time for these to come out of card rooms. Hope DTD get rid soon.

I thought I'd actually read the report rather than just the BBC article. For the record, the report is here: http://apps.who.int/gb/fctc/PDF/cop6/FCTC_COP6_10-en.pdf?ua=1

Feel free to read the report yourselves, but it sounds like the WHO are scared that Big Tobacco are getting majorly involved with these e-cigs and are worried about marketing to children etc etc etc. I found one paragraph on effects to non-smokers and that basically said that it was unknown. I personally would rather have the guy to my right puffing away on one of these than having him disappear every 30 mins, slow the game down and come back stinking of cigarettes, because if these do get banned then people will smoke regular fags instead as they are cheaper and easier.

They shouldn't be allowed at the table. If you want to use them then move away.

Whilst we're on the subject of table etiquette, if you have a cold, flu, stomach bug whatever, why are you sat next to me at a poker table? Go home, play online and keep your germs to yourself.

Quickens the game up if he's sat out?

when he comes back - argues about getting there before the last card is dealt etc etc. Plus cant take his money if hes not there!

And most of them wouldn't need a sink or soap and water if every seat had a bog Smiley

Hahahahaha, if someones going the bog then they're going the bog. Normally though when someone goes for a smoke break they chain 3-4 in, take 15-20 mins and stink of ciggies, then do the same half an hour later.

Don't see why this bothers you. Not a sufficient enough of an argument to not ban e-cigs imo

I hate the smell of smoke, makes me want to start again. Much prefer e-cigs and after reading that report it just stank of the nanny state trying to overprotect. Do the research then recommend bans, not the other bloody way round where if the research shows no effect whatsoever, governments will still ban indoor use because they dont want to change the status quo.

For the record, I do not use and never have used e-cigs.

People still smoke tho don't they? It's not going to eradicate tobacco.

And I think (and I will stand corrected if it says elsewhere), that the WHO are unsure of the long term effects of e-cigs. I would much rather err on the side of caution then say "well prove they're unsafe" although I suppose you could argue that with mobile phones

the articles/reports seem to suggest it's just the idea that kids will want to smoke rather than there being any specific stuff about them being harmful.

helps though as my parents generation were told smoking was good for them by the government. cheers politicians!
