Thought this was pretty interesting...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGDaOJAYHfo

The funny thing is this is probably closer to mathematically correct than the current average nfl coaches strategy.

Problem is no one is willing to step that far outside of the box, from a lack of knowledge or job security.

Currently the best is probably trestman at the bears, chip kelly has let me down after being very aggro in college. Bellichick used to be pretty good then he got slated for a correct go for it spot against the colts in the media and backed off.

Except the punters are incredibly skilled and the defences can stop offences.

The big difference in high school football by going for an onside kick they only lose 14 yards. In the pros the loss is more like 30-35 yards because the kickers get the ball so much deeper and the coverage teams are so much better.

Added to that in high school football it is much easier to recover an onside kick.

But absolutely agree pro coaches are far too conservative.

Except Riverboat Ron of course

Saw this today, maybe the replacement refs weren't so bad, after all...

Lions coach at it again today.

Easy FG to tie, go for a ridiculously difficult pass on third and long and get intercepted.

That's nit the coach, that is all on Matthew Stafford. Got to go low risk there and if need be fg on 4th down

There's going to be some spectacularly awful teams in the playoffs this season.

Several of: Indy, Tennessee, Dallas, Oakland, Philly, Jets, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay and Buffalo are going to the show.

There will be some huge spreads in the first round of the playoffs.

 Jacksonville can still get there.

Tampa would be favourite over some of those who are going to make it.

What's going on with these rush defenses?

Dallas earlier, now the Pats. I know they've both got injuuries but the replacements are completely woeful.

I'd fancy Tikay to have a 100 yard game if he suited up against either of these squads.

Mate asked me what I would bet, I said I had just done some First/Last TDs and not bothered on the outright.

He backed Pats because he prefers underdogs and went to bed in a huff after the first 1/4 Cheesy

I must admit - at the start of the season, a few teams went through my head for bottom of the AFC and bottom of the NFC.

The Texans and the Falcons were not in that group. Be interesting to see if Texans decide to just experiment and finish last so they can get that number 1 pick. The Falcons won't want it as they have Ryan.

Yeah, he just bet for a sweat and I took no pleasure in telling him how good the game was 2nd half Grin
