Watford close to signing Javier Acuna, a Paraguayan striker.  Anyone familiar?

seen him about 3 times in last 2 seasons in la liga 2

decent player can play in any of the front 3 positions uptop looks to me to ultimately be a winger

if he settles and played a whole season i would go for about 12 goals in the championship

It's a "soft" embargo.  We can sign players, but just need to get pre-approval from Football League in case we are doing anything naughty.

Obviously this is a rumour, but it's from a source who has been pretty reliable in pervious seasons.  It's someone who posts on the forum of the local paper.

A large number of transfers have already been completed by Watford.  They will be ratified all at once by the FL (under the soft embargo).  They will be announced en masse at the end of next week when the squad assembles for pre-season training.  The squad is supposedly FAR stronger than last season and the signing of one player will surprise a few people.

Still some 14-1 about which is probably worth a dabble, or the 9/2 to be promoted.  Keep is small though till news is more concrete.

The spectre of FFP hangs over Leicester City

We need to get the wage bill down and reshape the squad before being too competitive again so Wellens, Gallagher, Beckford, Danns, St Ledger, Drinkwater etc are available. Drinkwater is the only surprise here though he lost his place to a King/James combo from March onwards and there were rumours he wasn't happy.. All though have another year on their contracts and are not easy to shift. Several have indicated they will wait it out rather than go somewhere for less, so its a tough task to get rid, to then invest in younger and cheaper....

The gamble of investing heavily to get promoted pre FFP having failed, we now face the combined "expertise" of Terry Robinson from SUFC and Dave Richards from SWFC coming in in boardroom roles to oversee cost-cutting and to help out the frankly clueless owners, Doesn't fill me with much confidence.

Going to be an ultra competitive division again, and not too easy at this stage to see the Cardiff/Newcastle etc runaway winner.

Was cringeworthy watching it. He said that the BBC were the first people to tell him he was sacked while he was in the studio, and he looked gutted.

Have their been any replacements looking likely for Brighton for the manager spot?

Any views on Sheff Wed this season please?

Likely improvers? Likely to reshape the squad at all?
