Two years ago Leicester had Madrid, Mourinho and all, first XI as well, for a pre-season

We paid £1m to get it, charged £22 a non season ticket holder (ie not excessive) sold it out and made £4m in extra merchandise and promo (selling boxes for the day etc)

Bournemouth will do similarly as well, though obviously with a three sided ground and lower capacity the prices for punters to make the costs work are higher

Must be nice people paying you £1 million to show up for a pre-season knock around!

Bournemouth charging £60 for a pre season friendly albeit against Real Madrid

will help with ffp

Hardly.

We had 22k average and 6th lowest playing budget last season yet still lost £8m. This was our first season back in champ.

We also sold more pints than anyone in England at the ground.

All champ clubs are stuck in this so will make it an exciting league.

was a joke!

The grizzling has begun  Wink

eagles_tel says July 4, 2013 8:16pm

I don't get it I thought Watford were under a transfer embargo? How can they continue to sign these players - it's an outrage. I shall be writing a strongly worded letter to the FA as this is a shambles. I fully support Ian Holloway who is an inspiration to all eagles fans but how can he do his job when we get pipped to players like Acuna by Watford who we beat in the play-off final and have to settle for Carlton Cole and Dwight Gayle for £8.5m. They are signing much better players than us this guy Faraoni is miles ahead of Joel Ward. How are we supposed to compete in the prem when we resort to signing Watford rejects like this Bangura chap. Disgraceful.

God God, Dung - some of the Selhurst lot refuse to 'get over it'     .....     imagine the bile if we'd have won the bloody Play Offs?

I'm liking the new players coming in.

The Pozos 'scout and sign' regime seems to be light years ahead of 'Premier League' Crystal Palace'!

I dont Smiley

Charlton played first friendly, the annual warm up away to welling we won 5-0, only have one senior striker as both Haynes and Fuller have been released not fussed about Fuller but Haynes when fit is quality Sad
On bright news one of our u21's who scored 38 goals last year in the development league and cup double he got a hattrick and only played the first half, hopefully he can make the step up. If we sign 1-2 good strikers we will be  up there playoffs defo

Charlton are skint and looking to sell. If the few young lads come through and score goals like you say it might push them to edge of playoffs. Was one of them at loan to bromley or someone close last season and banged in loads?  My sources are pessimistic under current owners and their attitude to where they see the club going...

Leeds are a weird one, spent £1m of a crew midfielder Smiley maybe they had a bob or two. Just signed a sponsorship deal with sky bet a local Leeds firm Tongue

We do appear skint but i have a good feeling that will change, no source just a hunch

We had Smith out on loan to bromley i think, he is apparentally more ready for first team then Piggott (person who got hatrick yesterday) but i still think well get a striker or 2, hopefully a gem Smiley

Rumours? It was confirmed on BBC radio yesterday afternoon.

Still no signings for us, not looking good.

Well I guess anyone with Jordan Rhodes in this division has a chance as he scores 20 goals in poor teams never mind good ones.  Will put them down as one to consider on the spreads "buy" column.

Spreads not out yet, but so far, from tips on here and my own opinions I have:

Positives:  Watford, Reading,  Birmingham, Blackburn, Barnsley
Negatives:  QPR, Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Wigan
I have yet to form views on Leeds, Bolton, Leicester, Ipswich of the other front runners

This list will need to be whittled down considerably of course over the next month

I cant be having Wigan at all this season.

I am not a fan of Coyle at all and although the signing of Holt looks ok on first view i am not so sure (along with the non scoring Fortune from WBA)
