Not really sure to be honest, how much 'enough' is but i think it's when i'm comfortably rolled for the games i'm playing on my own and also have rent payed with enough of a life roll to live comfortably through a downswing, not asking much! Tongue

Just caught up on this diary. Glad to see some people have already posted some words of reason.
I, like you, transitioned from MTT's to cash games with very little previous live experience and have had a roller coaster of wins and losses.
I'll be returning to Loughborough University in October so i'm likely to see you at the tables.

The biggest advice i can give to you is to choose your games wisely and have good bank roll management.
Like previous posters have said, Nottingham is one of the reggiest fields for poker and while it will help you improve your game it can also quickly decrease your bankroll.
If your seriously considering playing out of a 1-2k roll i'd stick to 50/1 and try and grind up the stakes depending on what your other income is like.

How many hours a week are you likely to be playing?
Upto what buy in are you staked for in Live tournaments?

I don't know whats actually happening with the staking now, it was only a verbal agreement and i can't get in touch with the guy so :/
and a lot i suppose a hell of a lot online around work and at dusk a lot playing the 50/1 games like you've said and also the super 50's/xxl 25 sort of torno's seem really good value
you playing the grand prix?
whats a good role to move up to 1/2 at DTD?

Apologies for the slack response, I've only just seen this.
I don't move back in until the 29th so I won't be playing the Grand Prix unfortunately.

In consideration to your bank roll it depends how aggressive your bank roll management is going to be.
If you're a player that will sit for the max I.e 400, you're going to want at least a 30-50 BI bankroll to be able to comfortably afford the upswings and downswings that your roll is going to take.

I'd personally start at 50-1 at gala and dusk and grind out a bank roll from there.
With this you can afford to play tournaments and play online too for the major Mtt's.
If you want to play the larger Mtt's live at dusk take advantage of the satellite structure and bink a 1-2 bankroll for a tenth of the cost.

So made day 2 of the GP last night but with only 44k, So I went and played my day 2 only lasted 15 minutes but busted a pretty sick spot really in the big blind playing 40000 posted 3000 guy opens MP for 8k out of 100k he’s been opening fairly light though already shown KJ UTG hands like that, guy calls from the button with like 60k back I have 4’s and think I’m doubling up nearly with blinds ante’s and the raise and call if I shove and take it down and obviously don't mind flipping with AK/AQ well the guy say’s ‘fuck it’ chucks in 50k and the other guy folds he turns over J10cc I sighed a little but its a race Ac9c5d turn river Two Clubs I couldn't really do much I was handcuffed with stack size really, Don't know if their is anything I can do here really feels pretty sick if I'm honest as this gets through a lot of the time but it happens Anything else I can do really?

I thought it would be a decent idea to use this as a weekly review for myself and see how it goes, first of all though I've got to say really enjoyed this week/end the grand prix has been quality in my opinion would have love to go deeper than a min cash though sigggggh. I just won the super 50 turbo for a decent chunk as well so all in all a great start to be honest, built my confidence up loads as I've gone pretty deep in all the events I've played over this weekend:
Buyins: £218 which were all backed
total won: £1350
profit: £1132
What a ridiculous 1st week I guess, did however lose a buy in playing 50/1 the other day when a guy called my £85 reshove over his £35 checkraise with 6's on J32hhx I had AKhh bricked off oh well.
Nottingham is such a good city as well really like the place to be honest so really happy at the moment maybe another reason I feel like im playing good Smiley

really thought I was going to win the super 50's back to back had a 150k flip for double average with 20 left AK<JJ think if I win this I can push on and really control my table, but these things happen went and played a little 1/1 after this had a pretty sick hand where I called of a £104 river bet with AK on 52A28 think this is a horrible call most of the time looking back really shouldn't have called but the guy tables A2 NH sirrrrrrr, still up a chunk for the session feeling gooooodddd........

Another deep run sigggh think I've finished in like the last 30 of every tournament I've played since moving to nottingham this can only be promising surely, bit gutted about today though got a guy in 983 with K9 and i had AA for the king to bink on the turn built a stack up after this but some cooler situations led to a min cash sigggggggggghhh.....
Really enjoying playing at the moment wish I'd have played in the deepstack to be honest would have been pretty sweet but to poor to buy in -_- ball so hard.......

My mate made a bit in the tournament first cash for him so far so was nice to see him run deep, i made a chunk playing the cash as well so was a really good night overall had some absolutely amazing banter with some new people, not sure of names on here but apparently reads this diary at least someone does i suppose, tournament did go pretty badly for me though to be honest played pretty well to say i was card dead managed to get up to 18k to then lose AK<J4 for like 10k then get caught stealing for my last 8k with K5cc<AQss siggggh some people just know how to get there i must learn this!! super50 when i wake up today though feeling good bit of run good needed late on though.
